SOURCE: Kindle Paperwhite 1st Gen / Where is the battery

There isn't an active battery symbol, you can only see it at the top of the menu screen. There also isn't a percentage attached to the amount of battery time you have left, only an approximation.

SOURCE: My battery is only lasting a few hours on my kindle paperwhite

Maybe the battery is now aged and become old so it is not lasting its usual time.

SOURCE: why has Kindle Paperwhite stopped working

Try charging it fully, Shirley. If that doesn't work, you may need to try replacing the charger... but you MIGHT get it to charge with the USB cable plugged into a computer. If it STILL doesn't work, it might be time to replace it...

By the way, it's usually only necessary to ask a question once. You may not get an immediate answer - the people who answer these questions are people just like you, but we just come here to answer questions because we like to do that. There are only so many of us, so it may take a while for one of us to see your question and respond to it. Please be patient.

Forgot passcode

Kindle Fire:
If you can't remember your lock screen password or PIN, you will need to reset your Kindle Fire.

Important: Resetting your Kindle Fire will remove your personal information (including your lock screen password or PIN), Amazon account information, and downloaded content and apps. Any content you purchased from Amazon is automatically saved to the Cloud. You can download that content when you register your Kindle Fire to your account again.

  1. From the lock screen, slide the Unlock Bar from right to left.
  2. Enter characters into the prompt ten times. You will receive several warning messages. Dismiss the warning messages, and continue entering characters into the prompt.

After you've entered the incorrect password or PIN ten times, your Kindle Fire will reset.

Kindle Paperwhite:

If you can't remember the passcode for your Kindle you'll need to reset your device.

  1. Transfer from a Computer to Your Kindle Paperwhite.
  2. You can't reset your Kindle Paperwhite if Parental Controls are set. If you forget your password, reset your Kindle by entering "111222777" as the Parental Controls password.

Important: Resetting your Kindle will remove all content downloaded to it. Any content that is already saved to Your Kindle Library in the Cloud will remain in the Cloud. You can download that content again if you register your Kindle to your account again.

    1. From Home, tap the Menu icon, and then tap Settings.
    2. Tap the Menu icon again, and then tap Reset Device. Your device will power off and power back on.
To use your Kindle again, you'll need to connect wirelessly and register your Kindle.
