Not knowing the brand or model # I can give you basic advice that applies to most thermostats. If you have a menu screen option this is typically for the setup as in type of furnace or fuel used etc. The subbase normally will have some switches to physically move, if not then yes the screen will be the place to look for the mode it is in.
