They appear to be standard sewing machine needles... available anywhere that sells fabric, etc. including Wal-Mart. Take one that you got with it along and ask the person cutting fabric if you're not sure.

Needle Plate

Sometimes you have to manipulate the plate to get it to "settle" into its slots, but if it lined up before you took it off, it must line up now, IF your bobbin case is correctly inserted, which could be another possibility.

Line needle plate

try a new needle first, then if the needle doesn't line up with the needle plate, then the machine needs a ajustment or has a timing problem and needs to be checked at a sewing machine shop

Needle is hitting presser foot and the plate beneath - not lining up and I can't figure out how to do it.

Your needle is incorrectly inserted or bent. Try a new needle and use handwheel to see if it is lining correctly. Flat part of needle should face the back of the needle holder and be pushed well in.

When using twin needles only one line of stitching is stitching normally, the other line is jumping stitches. I have tried rethreading & changed the twin needle. With the first twin needle the left...

now that is strange. check your thread, now take that twin needle and try this, shove it very hard up into the the needle holder. my thought is that it is not up enough. because your problem is exactly what would happen should the twin needle be sitting too low. try shoving it up higher and test again.

Thread skips

Well, Hello Kim. Once the Needle for the machine is changed, there is a good possibility of the timing of the stitches being altered and hence the problem.
  •  Firstly, make sure that the needle is in correctly with the scarf of the needle towards the hook. Take the needle plate off and the presser foot off.
  • Turn the handwheel towards you until the needle is in the lowest position, and on the needle bar you will see two lines somewhere near where the needle bar enters the machine.
  • When the needle is in the lowest position, the top line of the two lines should be flush with the body of the machine.

Problem with automatic needle threader On Viking Designer 1 serie

Yes, I fix them all the time. You will need very good eye sight as the wire/metal hook is very small. If you get at an angle where you can see how the hook lines up between the metal flaps that hug the needle, the hook will probably be off center. You will need something very flat, but strong. I have use the exact-o-knife blade, in the handle of course, a knife, and a tiny screw driver. The hook has to line up vertically and horizontally. What usually happens is when we thread the needle it did not line up exactly, and putting pressure on the white tab, bends the hook. Bend it back and you are in business. If the threader does not line up horizontally, the needle threader may have slid down the shaft. This take a special tool. I purchased mine at Sears tools. There are 2 screws on the back of the threader. Move the needle to the highest position and after loosening the 2 screws, you can slide the threader up and down on the silver shaft, this is trickier, because the shaft moves up and down and rotates as it gets close to the needle. I use calipers/hemostats to hold the shaft while I line up the hook.
Hope this helps.

  • Take the side plate off and also take the needle plate off
  • Take the presser foot off, and put a new needle in the machine.
  • Make sure that the needle is in the lowest position and look at the needle bar for the two timing lines. Locate the top line.
  • Then, turn the handwheel toward you until the top line is where the bottom line was. Note: At this point, the tip of the hook should be directly in the scarf of the needle.

How do I fix a timing problem with my singer sewing machine? The needle thread will not pick up my bobbin thread.

Here's how you set the timing od the Machine alright:
1. Take the side plate off, take the needle plate off.
2. Take the presser foot off, and put a new needle in the machine. 3. Make sure that the needle is in the lowest position and look at the needle bar for the two timing lines. Locate the top line.
4. Then, turn the handwheel toward you until the top line is where the bottom line was.
At this point, the tip of the hook should be directly in the scarf of the needle.
This should set the timing of the machine perfect....

I would first make sure the thread tension is adjusted properly. if this does not fix your issue, check the point on the shuttle hook and make sure it is not broken off. it should come to a needle sharp point. if the tip is broken off it may not pick up the thread from the needle properly. then double check the timing and the needle shaft depth. first, make sure your needle is fully seated and tightened down. the groove in the needle should face forward. there are two timing marks on the needle shaft. at maximum depth you should see both lines and the top line should be right at the bottom of the needle shaft bushing. then as the shaft goes back up, when the bottom line is at the bottom of the bushing the point of the shuttle hook should be right behind the needle and centered in the indentation on the back of the needle. you may need to make minor adjustments on the needle shaft depth depending on what brand and type of needles you are using.
