sounds like a freon like to me if the compressor is running for long periods and not freezing properly or you have a water pressure issue. if it is water cooled which alot are it is hard to realize you have a freon leak.
Those are symptoms of the mix refrigeration system being undercharged. You will need a refrigeration technician to add refrigerant.
In Taylor soft serve machines when the left side hopper (standing in front of the machine) is icing up and the right side hopper is not cold enough, the problem is low refrigerant in that system. It takes R134A. Soft Serve Parts C713
If your outer bucket is leaking down the liquid brine solution it won't freeze properly. The rival buckets are bad about leaking. You might try pre-conditioning the outer bucket before making your attempt at freezing. Just fill the bucket to the weep hole with water and let it sit for about half an hour, then pour out all but about 4 inches of it and start adding ice and salt.
Freeze the bowl for at least 24 hrs, rather than the 12 hrs the manual suggests - it will make all the difference in the world. For really thick ice cream, freeze the bowl for a day, and then put the ingredients in the freezer until the outer rim becomes frozen. Very delicious!
The best thing to do would be to recover the 404a into a clean recovery jug, weighing how much you take out. Check the nameplate on back it will tell total ref charge. in either oz or lbs. then weigh the charge back into the unit. this is the best wayto verify if you have a proper charge. If the unit is low on charge then you will want to find and repair the leak as soon as possible.
Yes, they stop working sometimes. Same thing happened to me. The Cuisinart ICE-20 bowl is precisely the same, and works with the Krups 337. You can buy the Cuisinart bowl separately. It costs nearly as much as the whole machine, but what can you do.
Preparing the Freezer Bowl: The freezer bowl must be completely frozen before you begin your recipe. The length of time needed to reach the frozen state depends on how cold your freezer is – for best results, place the bowl to the rear of your freezer where it is coldest. In general, freezing time is between 6 hours and 22 hours. To determine whether the bowl is completely frozen, shake it. If you do not hear liquid moving, the cooling liquid is frozen. For the most convenience, leave your freezer bowl in the freezer at all times so you can take it out any time for immediate use.
