SOURCE: How is a flashlight both luminous and nonluminous at the same time?

At first light it DOES sound a bit confusing.
First, the definition of the term 'NON-LUMINOUS'; 'Not capable of PRODUCING light but can be capable of REFLECTING light from another source'.
For instance, our MOON is NON-LUMINOUS as it REFLECTS light from the Sun. The SUN is LUMINOUS as it produces light that is REFLECTED off the surface of the moon. And so, LUMINOUS means capable of PRODUCING light.
Now closely examine your flashlight.
The BATTERIES produce electrical energy which is transferred to the BULB which emits light, thus LUMINOUS. The tiny little BULB emits quite a lot of light for its small size. However, the bulb is contained within a concave silvered cone which REFLECTS,(NON-LUMINOUS) gathers and channels the emitted light from the BULB (LUMINOUS) into a BEAM which ILLUMINATES whatever you are pointing the flashlight at.
Our cameras would be just paperweights if there were no NON-LUMINOUS surfaces for the light to REFLECT off of, back into the camera lens, onto the 'plate' thus etching the image. For example, take a photograph in the dark without the flash and what do you get. No LUMINOUS, no NON-LUMINOUS.
And so there we have LUMINOUS and NON-LUMINOUS, ILLUMINATING our lives. Enjoy! :)

Not sure which bit to unscrew when trying change battery in onyx50

The flashlight uses 1 AA battery. My guess, you should only have to unscrew the end cap. If you finds it very hard to unscrew the end cap off, it could be from the battery has explode and swollen. MAYBE - I see this happen in my daughters MAG flashlight. DO not keep your flashlight in the car with the batteries installed. The amount of heat in the cars can ruin the batteries in the flashlight.

Stanley flashlight keeps blinking like a strobe light how can I fix it

I assume it is an LED flashlight (you did not say). Cheap Chinese-manufactured LEDs will flicker in this way when they go bad. The condition is not repairable... you will need to replace the flashlight. (Save the batteries.)

How to re-wire the flashlight Makita BML185

You have a battery a globe and a switch. It really only matters matter if you keep the circuit board(CB). Here's how mine was wired.

Red - Battery pos to switch to bottom of CB (BT+)
Red - top of CB (BU+) to pos contact pivot
Black - neg contact pivot to top of CB (BU-)
Black - bottom to CB (BT-) to battery neg

Or you could just bypass the CB altogether, wire the black to the black, and the red to the red. done.

How come flashlights are called flashlights if they don't flash?

In the early days of flashlights, the battery life was very short. So if you needed to use a flashlight, you would turn in on only for a second and then shut it off. Hence, the term flash-light.

Batteries got corroded in the flashlight now I can't get it out. How can I get the battery out?

If you can remove both ends of the flashlight, find a piece of pipe that is slightly smaller in diameter than the inside of your flashlight, hold the flashlight body in one hand and the pipe in the other. place the pipe on top of the batteries then strike the pipe on a heavy hard surface that you are not worried about damaging. The blows should dislodge the batteries. Clean the corrosion thoroghly before putting new batteries in

We changed the battery pack and the bulb and it wont come on so the switch is prolly defective where do we find how to repair the flash light

Alot of maglites are problematic with symptoms like this... I have found that the culprit many times is the screw cap on the bottom of the flashlight.
The elecrtrical connection needed between the spring in the end cap, the threads on the cap and the threads in the barrel of the flashlight...
Make sure you twist your spring a bit..the dissimilar metals can actually corrode between the spring and the cap... Then spin the threads a little... Then try the flashlight again...
This procedure may save yourself replacing a switch..

Flashlight won't turn off

It sounds like the on/off switch is defective. Unscrew the battery cap to keep the light from draining the batteries.
