These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.

Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/DriverDownload/driverList.asp
If these fail, then:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).
You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE shutting down your computer.

CAN'T RECOGNIZE MY SONY DCR TRV720 HANDYCAM CAMCORDER ON WINDOWS XP 5.1 SVC PACK 2 BUILD (2600) TOSHIBA SATELITTE 5005-S504 LAPTOP. IEEE ILINK CABLE 1394. NEW CABLE 4PIN TO 4 PIN. SONY SITE SAYS, DONT...

There is a Sony tutorial page for downloading video to computer at THIS LINK

You will need to select Windows as the operating system, then your camera type, then select the type of connection. You are strongly recommended to use i.Link (which everyone else calls Firewire).

There is Sony software called Picture Motion Browser that you can download (you will need the number from your original CD).

If none of that helps, perhaps the driver for the Firewire (IEEE 1394) port on the computer needs to be reinstalled. You can view this driver (if it is installed) by opening the control panel\system\hardware\device manager and looking for IEEE 1394. It should say if there is a problem or if it is working. You can force it to reinstall at this point.

My Computer doesn't recognize my internal dvd drive.

remove dvd drive, remove the dirvers, turn off computer, leave off for about 2 minutes, go to add new hardware, let it search, when it asks you if you installed it say no, it will tell you to do so, , turn off puter, plug dvd drive in, start it, let the puter do it's bootup stuff, if it dosent say it found it, go into control panel, add new hardware, let it go thru the checking phase, if you have driver disk, it should tell you it needs them, make sure all power plugs and comunication cables are tight and connected in right places on mother board, .....hope it helps, might have to do it a couple of times it a tedious thing, you'll get there....good luck...shia

Cpu doesnt recognize new drive

ok i may be able to help, first of all i must ask if you plugged the cables in correctly and didnt forget the power connector.
secondly, have you been into the BIOS and checked weather or not the device shows up there? to access the BIOS (basic input output system) usually you have to repeatedly press the delete button or F1 button as as the PC boots up(before windows loading screen). If you see the device in the BIOS then you should unplug the drive and return it to it manufacturer. If it does show up in BIOS, also check to see weather the drive is compatible with your current version of windows, this also includes the service pack you have installed. if the device does not show up in BIOS then check the cables again, check for any phsyical damages and return to manufacturer. if this dosent help you im sorry, but theres not much you can do if hardware decides it dosent wanna play.

The screen says "Upgrader"

Have you upgraded the software if not try that. Check your battery voltage if it reads around the 2. something voltage then you need to get that battery to its orginal capacity. I dont think you'll get your songs back. Does it have a reset button if so reset it.
