Again try to charge it. Make sure you are using a good cable and a good charger. After you plugged the charger in, the screen should come on after a few minutes, to show a red (empty) battery logo.
Then after it is charged (could take a few hors) it is supposed to work normal.

My i pod touch won't turn on unless i put an outlet charger into it and when i take the charger out it turns off

Hi there,

This problem is most probably caused by a faulty battery, if the battery is old it could be caused by that or if the battery was left uncharged for a long period of time.

You can purchase a new battery by following this link: Google Search, you can do the replacement yourself by following this link which will take you to a tutorial of how to disassemble your iPod Touch: Click Here

Thank you for using FixYa! Have a nice day and please remembe to rate this solution.

My ipod will not turn on, ive tried charging it and connecting it to the computer. I went to turn it on the other day and it just is black. It hasnt been dropped hard or anything and it worked before.

Please try a hard reset -
  • slide the lock switch (on top of the ipod) to the unlock position, then to the locked, and then back to unlocked (left---right---left).
  • Then press and hold the "Menu" and the white center circle until you see a faint apple logo on the center of the screen.
  • It should now reboot.
You can also search for "Ipod hard reset" on Apple's support site and get the same information.
I hope that helps.

First make sure your hold switch isn't on. It's on the top or bottom and slides back and forth. It needs to be switched to the left. Once it is to the left, here's how you reset:

You can reset your ipod by holding down the menu and select (round button in the center) buttons down for at least 10 seconds. You'll see an apple logo flash, that's when you stop pressing the buttons. It will shut off, then back on.

It sounds as if one of the keys is stuck. You can try pushing each key several times in quick succession, but you will probably need a qualified technician to go any further, as there are no user serviceable parts inside.
