A faulty mechanism. Either in the carriage that the tape sits in or the main mechanism itself. It shuts down, because the electronics are being told that it should be in a certain position and that disagrees with some of the other functions that are happening inside the unit. So it shuts down to prevent further damage inside the unit or to the tape.
Visual examination of the workings might show the damage parts.

The system just shuts off after the word "eject" appears on the screen.

It is likely mechanical disassembly will be required to extract the damaged cassette in the B drive and the jammed cassette in the A drive. The electromechanical A-B switching mechanism may have failed because of age aor failure of synchronization. The tapes, if very thin or stretched could be a contributing factor.

This is usually caused by frayed wires in the cassette carriage. There is a bundle of colored wires that take the sensor outputs to the harness from the carriage. After many loads, they eventually break and need replacing. They are brown, red, orange and yellow from memory in a bundle of four, about 2 inches long and are soldered at each end to small circuit boards at the back right hand side of the cassette carriage (assuming you are standing at the front of the machine).
Otherwise you could have a dusty or faulty opto-coupler in the carriage. Another problem is when the cassette slips back when loading starts. Try keeping a finger on the back of the cassette as it loads into the machine to keep it engaged. Don't jam your finger, as soon as the tape goes forward enough and then begins to drop down, get the hell out of there!

How can I eject a cassette from deck A it has taken the cassette and is not ejecting it nor is it playing it

The loading is not completing and so the mechanism will not release the forward eject of the cassettte to work. So please check on the belt and if this is worn then the loading will not work as it will slip and so will not complete the loading back to rest mode.

Cassette doesn't load and move down into machine

I had the same problem. With the camera on, keep taking the battery off and putting it back on. Start to close the door and then open it. Eventually you should hear it try to move. Keep doing it and it should move down all the way.

It says auto protect on and eject cassette ?

Defective mechanism, a stucked mechanism is present. camcorder are smart it can detects error and shuts down itself for safety. earlier models dominoes the defect if the user is not quick enough to react when something goes wrong with the camera. You need professional service to fix it.

Tape wont eject, play, or rewind. It tries, but soon the message to push reset comes up. No help. Camera works ok otherwise.

put the camera to your ear , power it up and listen ! if it sounds . . . jerky ? your tape is stuck to the heads ( not easy to get out , cassette may be toast and - time is money ) ; if you hear whirring sounds ? before shuts down your cassette housing may be bent ( will need disassembly etc . but not usually expensive ) because - if it is a loading problem , it will usually eject ;
