HI...

There are two options to get the BIOS set up, the things you should do is to press the the F2, because delete and F2 is the function key to get the BIOS set up.

Good luck !!!

Acceso a bios

Look at the bottom of the monitor screen, when the manufacturer logo comes up

Gigabyte?

Look for -> enter BIOS Setup <- and the key to press

If Windows loads, let it load. Then turn the computer off normally.
(WinXP: Start > Turn Off Computer > Turn Off )

If Windows does NOT load, press the CTRL key, ALT key, and DELete key AT THE SAME TIME. (Not shouting)

Or press the Power On button, and hold in for a count of 10 seconds.

Now...........
AS SOON AS you press the Power On button, start tapping on that enter BIOS Setup - key.

Tap in 2 second intervals.

If you hear beeps ignore them.
They are Stuck Key Error Code beeps, and it is you that is doing it

This method will get you into BIOS Setup.

Delete hardrive on a gateway nv53a

To delete a harddrive you would go into BIOS Setup, and remove.
(Main menu, or Standard BIOS options (setup)

Was there a previous harddrive, you installed a new one, and the old is still showing up, or what is going on?

http://support.gateway.com/s/notebook/2010/gateway/nv/nv53A/NV53Asp2.shtml

My intel indicates press F2 to enter BIOS Setup.
The best method I've found is;

AS SOON AS you press the Power On button, start tapping on the F2 key.
You may hear beeps as you do.
Those are Stuck key Error Code beeps, and it is you that is doing it.
Ignore them.

If you do not know how to navigate in BIOS Setup, or save changes; post back in a Comment.

Totally way off? Post back in a Comment.

Need to access the menu

Know what the ->enter BIOS Setup key is?

It's on the bottom of the computer manufacturer logo screen.

Got it?

Now press the CTRL and ALT and DELete keys at the same time.
Restarts the computer.

JUST AS SOON AS IT STARTS, start tapping on the enter BIOS Setup key.
Tap in 2 seconds intervals.

If you hear beeps ignore it. These are Stuck Key Error Code beeps, and it is you that is making them.

Still No?
Turn the computer off by holding the Power On button in, for 10 seconds.
WAIT 20 seconds, then press the Power On button.

AS SOON AS YOU PRESS the Power On button, start tapping on the enter BIOS Setup key. The rest is above.

joecoolsvette

[The time period to enter BIOS Setup goes by F-A-S-T!
As soon as you see the computer manufacturer 'splash screen', (Logo screen), it may be TOO late. The above method makes sure you get in BIOS Setup ]

If I don't know what computer you have It makes helping you more difficult.

Here are some options for different computers:

  • Turn on the computer, immediately hit the F2 button. - Most computers with Phoenix BIOS.
  • Turn on the computer, during POST hit the Delete button - Most computers with AMI BIOS
  • Turn on the computer, hit Ctrl+Alt+F3, Ctrl+Alt+Ins, or Fn+F1 - Older Lenovo.
  • Turn on the computer, immediately hit the F10 button. - Some Dell computers.
  • Turn on the computer, hit Fn+Esc or Fn+F1. Older Dell laptops.
If you tell me exactly what you have, I'll tell you exactly what to do ;)

I have a gateway gx7022e windows xp computer. When i try to boot it up the white letters pop up then the screen goes to the gateway screen and freezes. Then my num lock comes on but my keyboard wont work....

At power on / power up, look for the key during the bootup (black screen with white text), that allows you to enter SETUP. If none designated such as F1, F2 F10 etc, then quickly click the delete button a few times and that may get you into setup. You may have to turn off the computer if you miss that window of time if it rfequires pressing the delete button a few times. Keep an eye out for the Enter Setup key though. To turn off the computer press and hold the power button 'till is shuts down and resart the process until you get to the setup screen in bios. In setup bios environment, look for set factory defaults and then save and restart. That may solve the issue of the lockup.
