If It doesn't have a fault on it, then check all your speakers and cables for damage or faults. Make certain no speaker wire touches each other.

SOURCE: sony home theater system started blinking protect

Protect mode will kicking whenever a fault is detected.

Causes that can start protect mode are:

Electrostatic harges on internal circuits.
Leave the unit unplugged for power for one hour or so, this will allow discharge.

Bad speaker wiring.
Check speaker wiring, try unplugging and plugging back, or start after removing one speaker at the time.

Internal fault.
Internal fault is the natural cause for protect mode. If all the above did not work, then the problem is a blown component or an internal fault. In this case the unit must be taken apart , tested and repaired by an experienced person.
If the unit is less than one year old, or if you want to get service, call Sony at the phone number listed on the product documentation.

Regards.

Iam a common electronics engineer can you help me in fixing sony 5.1 home theater on protection mode

Hello,
I can tell you exactly how to troubleshoot a PROTECT problem, but the procedure is too lengthy for this forum. Please visit my website at audioserviceclinic.com. I will get you in the "Ball Park". Yes, there is most likely an issue on the amp board, but I troubleshoot to the component level, not board level, even if it was available.

When i switch on it will appear protection and goes off

Disconnect all speakers and turn the system on. If protection turns on immediately, there is an internal problem. You will have to open up the main unit and check for defective components and poor solder joints. Keep checking operation without the speakers connected until protection stays off on startup

Make sure your center channel speaker is hooked up. Most vocals come through the center channel.

When i turn the system on the display will read "hello" then "protect" then shuts off. Whats up ?

The "protect" function is shutting the syetm down to protect the electronic components inside it. Usually caused by a lackof earth in the plug or extension lead. Plug it straight into the wall and check it, if it is still the same then it could be a speaker wiring short circuit, disconnect the speakers and plug it in on its own and test it

Ht-z210 home cinema protect error

Protection Error means that there is a malfunctioning component inside your unit. It will go into protection mode and immediately shut down to protect your system from any further damage. Unfortunately you would have to bring it to a dealer or repair shop to diagnose the exact malfunction and that could be expensive.

Once switched on, PROTECT appears on screeen and system turns off

When your home theater's display reads PROTECTION, it means the home theater is over heating and the unit will shut down to prevent any damage. This can happen if the unit is stacked along with other electronic devices or the unit is in an enclosed area that prevents the unit from cooling properly. To decrease the chance of overheating, relocate your home theater to a more open area.

If the home theater display reads PROTECTION every time you turn it on, no matter where or how the unit is placed, it needs service. To set up service call Samsung Customer Care at 1-800-SAMSUNG (1-800-726-7864). Have your model number and serial number on hand to set up service.

No home theater sound

Protect mode will kick in whenever a fault is detected.

You get the unit not powering up, and sometimes you hear a clicking noise, that is the protection switch that keeps shutting down the unit.

I see'protection' then it turns off

Protection means the unit is detecting a short somewhere. Disconnect speakers and components and attempt to power on the unit again. If it will power on with nothing connected, repeat the process (turn off, connect something, then power on) until you find the bad component or speaker.
