Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Asus q501l laptop black screen after updates

You need to use a windows restore point to get back to a previous good state. When you turn on the laptop start pressing F8 over and over until you get to a black DOS screen, then select the option to use Last Known Good Configuration.

ASUS Q501L Notebook PC, how do I keep or even start the numbers lock keypad? Keep pressing num lk key but nothing happens.

Admittedly, the placement of the "END" key is odd in the location where the "NUM LOCK" key would normally be. However, if you look at that key closely you will note that there is a second function to it. Hold down the "fn" key and press the "End/num lk" key and the numbers will be turned on.

Display not centered, no access to vertical scroll bar

That's because the LCD screen is going bad.

I would have said the screen Inverter, but the LCD screen uses LED's as a Backlight, and uses no screen Inverter.

The above is just an example. Shop around for a better price, but advise make sure it is a reputable dealer. (I do NOT advertise for anybody)

Found this recently. I feel number 2 adds to replacing the LCD screen, and number 3, also adds another idea for those who may be interested,

My asus eee pc 1000h fell & lcd cracked. it lights up fine. how can i make sure that is the only issue thus making investing in replacement lcd worth it

Was it on when it fell?

If YES, then the area I would be most concerned with is the hard drive.

You can scan the drive with this program, download the demo version of course ;)

Why asus screen turns into white sometimes?

you have a bad connection in the lcd cables, either a cracked ribbon from regular usage or the connection is loose. the white screen is lit but no data is visible, black screen, ffl tube or inverter is bad. check connections first, always check the simple things first.

Compaq a900 screen missing bottom 33% of picture the rest ok

Any visible cracks in the screen? This sounds like a cracked LCD issue, had it happen on a LCD tv of mine a while back ... best bet would be to take it into a shop and have it checked.
