  • Harky Dec 05, 2007

Now that I've upgraded to VISTA, I cannot print on 8.5 X 14 paper. 8.5 X 14 shows up as an option in the page setup properties, but when I print everything is reduced in size and prints on 8.5 X 11.

Also, I upgraded to Office 2007 so I am not sure if it is a VISTA or Office problem.

My HP psc 1210 won't work properly now that my OS is Vista. I could use the printer but not the scanner because I can not use the HP Director. When I click the icon it says "HP Image Zone is incompatible with this version of Windows". I checked on-line solution but I end up to one saying "This problem was caused by a compatibility issue between Windows Vista and this version of HP ImageZone."

I am unable to use the HP Director software with my HP PSC 1210 Printer. This makes it close to impossible to scan anything and when you can get it to work its scanned as a picture and you can not make any changes to it.

I have the same issue. I tried the upgrade route...I upgraded to the HP Officejet J5780. Don't waste your money! Scanner functions still don't work on the $150 fax/printer/scanner. Spent hours trying to fix with HP Tech to only be told it is a Windows Vista issue. Is there no solution?? Does this problem occur only on HP products or is it with every scanner using Windows Vista? This is absurd that the scanning function does not work!

  • Anonymous Mar 09, 2008

I also have a hp 1210 all in one printer which prints and copies but won't scan. I need help in trying to fix this problem. It appears that most of us who are now using windows vista can't scan from our printers.

  • prtst Mar 10, 2008

I've gone to the hp site it says don't need driver but I cannot get the printer to work at all. vista sees it on the hardware but won't run it.

  • Anonymous Mar 10, 2008

I have transfered my HP PSC 1110 over to my new computer running on Vista. I do not see the HP Director and from what I can see so far I cannot access all the Scanning functions such as creating different types of files (.pdf)s and all my copying functions have disappeared as well. From what I have seen at the HP web site it looks like I will have to throw out this perfectly good printer and buy one of their new ones that will give me my functions back. This is at best poor customer relations and at worse a cheap shot by HP. They should have shipped a tube of KY jelly with every computer that has Vista

  • dmaa Mar 11, 2008

I have a C4280 all in one which will not scan with Vista. I downloaded the new drivers, called HP multiple time but it will not scan. It works fine with an older XP computer. HP blames Vista and vis a vera.

  • Risky55 Mar 21, 2008

Similar problem for me with my HP 1350 all-in-one, in that I can no longer use all the functions of my unit since I started using Vista. In particular I have found no way to be able to scan to PDF, which was no problem under XP. Doesn't seem that HP offer a Vista version of the Director software .. so like one other post here said, looks like I have to throw out my perfectly good scanner so that I can get a new one fully supported under Vista. No doubt a shocking ploy by HP to sell more printers. HP claim to be an environment friendly corporation. How can this be with perfectly good HP printers ending up in land fills all over the world.

By the way, I can still scan (just not to PDF). Use Windows Photo Gallery, or Windows Fax and Scan or simply MS-Paint .. then File > From Scanner or Camera

Have similar problem. Upgraded computer that has vista. I have 2 HP printers. A 2350 and a 6210. Both work fine except they won't scan. Spent a bunch of time reloading drivers and on chay line with Hp. They didn't bother to tell me that they still won't scan even after doing that. What a waste of time. HP needs to tell people the truth!!! You can't scan simply by pressing the scan to pc button. I will try some suggestions from this site.

Plugged in my 1200 to my new vista laptop (not using the install cd as instructed) and it connected straight away. Can only print from it - no scan no other buttons available. At first I did use the cd to install and did actually manage to scan 6 photos successfully. Since then I had error messages about adobe flash player - which I have just updated. But now have no other options other than print. The downloads suggested on this page on the right hand side - do they work? Hope you can help.

  • Anonymous May 22, 2009

I just want to say thank you, I was given the all in one used w/o software, drivers or instructions, I managed to get everything up and running but couldn't get it to scan with the scan button. I tried the method with Vista's window's photo gallery, and though it is a little more involved than just hitting a button, it works. And as I see it I would have had to open photo galley anyway to edit the photo's and put them into the proper file. Thanks again, you all have been a BIG help

Windows photo galley fix works fine... but here's a new fix... go to HP Customer Care > HP PSC 1210 All-in-One Printer > Microsoft Windows XP > Software & Driver downloads ... and download WinXP photo editing software package, which includes a "import from scanner/camera" tool. Worked out great... just like my ole "Hp" software program. Sweet! here are a few screenshots ... pic1 ... pic2 ...

I checked with HP and they claim that everything you need to scan is included with vista. Here's how to get it working

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00808543&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=240978&lang=en

So Vista will handle basic scanning functions, but if you need something more advanced ( Like OCR ) you may need to purchase a vista compatible scanning program like paperport. There are a few shareware or demo versions of similar software that I do not have experience with but can be found here.

I have a photosmart that wouldnt scan even after updating driver. But heres how to make it work. For some reason the scanner cant scan on its own, the computer has to tell it to. Go to windows photo gallery, hit file, then import from scanner, then scan. It works on mine!

HP, you just lost a customer of 11 years because of your **** poor customer service, and your lack of vista driver support for scanning or general care for your customers. Thank you target and epson for offering a $40 all in one that not only worked with vista, but even windows 7 RC 64 Ultimate.

If anyone has the same idea of putting XP on VMWare to use their printer, I've been there and tried that, and it didn't recognize my "Hewlett-Packard composite USB device"

My all in one usb printer pulled the drivers off the web. Then I just had to go to start, all programs, windows photo gallery, file, import with scanner. If you have windows vista ultimate or business you can scan in a different format. But otherwise, as previously stated, you will need some third party software.

You can either scan through paint or windows fax and scan

Yeah we contacted the HP company SEVERAL times over the past 9 months trying to get our All IN One Printer to work and we have been told everything under the sun. Eventually they told us that the compatibility with Vista that they put on the outside of the box was not true. I will really be careful the day I make another purchase.

I cannot believe how hard it is to get one piece of equipment to just do what it's sopposed to do. SCAN. I purchased it apporox. 9 months ago and I have called HP since then trying to get someone ....ANYONE to explain to me WHY it wont work. My computer is a VISTA. I was finally able to establish that they lied about it being compatible with my computer. Ok fine! Now make it work with it or just tell me it never will and give me my money back. But no I was told 3 weeks, then three months then next month and this CD and that download and now it's going to be in April! I come here to get some kind of help because obviously HP is no help and I get a couple of website addresses which lead to nowhere and does nothing for me or my computer and I just need to say you guys and HP suck suck SUCK! Thanks for nothing!

As much as I hate having to learn new navigation it would appear at until such time as HP comes up with updated drivers for their printers to work with VISA we all may be forced to resort to earlier ourearlier Windows versions that supported HP printers...I am using a new HP computer that came with VISTA and even with the attempts of technical support from HP could not get my HP PSC 1210 to print...it just freezes...If I do get it working in the future I will post how HP managed to reslove the problem as so far their attempts at setting the Windows generic drivers has not worked...They would do well to work with Microsoft....the Vista instructions did now work...I doubt either company has come up with a patch or solution else it would be available on their sites.

Scanner isn't working with scan button. How do I manually scan using computer?

Go to start (bottom left of main windows desktop), then programmes, then accessories and select 'paint'. Then within 'paint' go to 'file' and select the option 'from scanner or camera'. Select HP printer, which hopefully is an option, then follow on screen directions......
Mine stopped scanning when I bought a new Vista PC. Apparently the drivers won't run the scanner in the old way - but hopefully this'll work for you.

Hp psc 2110 won't work in vista

Vista has the drivers for the HP psc 2110 embedded in the OS.

So, you should be able to print, with the default drivers. But, you will not be able to scan as of right now, unless someone releases an update for the HP PSC scanning software. I doubt that will happen, as these all in one's are so old.

Such a good little printer/ scanner/ copier too.. kind of sad to think its that obsolete that its not compatible for scanning.

Hp psc 1100/1200 all-in-one does not scan with vista..

I had the same problem. Click Start, Windows Photo Gallery, from that screen, you can select import from scanner. The 1200 series printer should be a choice to select. You are then able to preview the image or document, then press scan. I found this out through the HP support website.

CAN NOT SCAN FROM PRINTER TO COMPUTER

New Computer is it? Vista- yes? Big troubles with drivers for scanners from vista. Scanners have a built in processor that runs all its operations on command from the computer. Vista is not speaking the same language the scanner wants to hear. Got onto HP tech support- I don't hold out much hope for you re this.
