You may consider contacting Get Support at Motorola Solutions or a Ham Radio interest group online. Probably too specific for FixYa.

SOURCE: Push to talk problem

Hi,

If indeed radio #1 has a mic problem, this may be confirmed by trying an external speaker/microphone plugged into the accessory jack. If still a no, then its not the mic but possibly the modulator circuitry. If there is transmit audio with the external mic and hence internal mic is defective, the unit would have to be pried open and the defective component replaced. The internal mic is normally an electrofet 2-3 terminal soldered to a shielded wire and physically attached to the front plate.

Alternately, another possibility is that radio #2 has its Interference Eliminator Code enabled/activated. This is indicated by the presence of small sized digits on the top right of display. If this is the case and no similar digits are displayed in radio #1, then radio #2 will not allow any received transmission to be heard. Along the same line of reasoning, if the code is activated on both radios signified by the presence of the 2 small digits, and radio #1 has a problem with its CTCSS (code) generator, then it would also prevent reception of radio #2. A way to verify this is by deactivating/disabling the Interference Eliminator Codes on both radios.

On certain occasion, it is also possible that radio #2 has a defective speaker. You should be able to verify this by plugging in an external speaker to the accessory jack of radio #2.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

What would cause the mic amp to blow out after keyup of less than 12 times, replaced amp 3 times with same results

Are you using the stock mic, or have you switched to a so called Power Mic? These can kill the microphone preamplifiers in some radios. All a power mic is going to do is to create splatter on any type of radio if it is not set up correctly. It will not give you more output power in SSB or AM, but it will make you unpopular with other operators. HAM and some CB radio's have some front panel controls that can help with this (mic gain). What it comes down to is that the mnufacturer specified a certain mic that will perform properly, and any additional microphone that you decide to use should be set up appropriately for the radio.

Mic wiring for tyt -9000

since this is a fairly new radio, your only resource is your manual and schematic.
As a Ham you should be able to read them. If you are thinking of installing an aftermarket mic, you don't do this on most ham radios, they are not CBs that you can put a "power mic" on. too much audio input on an FM transceiver can make your transmission unintelligible

I have a yaesu ft2900 ham radio when i key the mic it turns off then comes back on help

You have all the making of not enough power to operate the radio and it shuts down to protect itself. Hook the power leads directly to the battery terminals and keep the leads as short as possible. The more wire you have the more resistance and the more resistance the less volts your radio can see. Also be certain you have a good ground connection

Will a cobra power mic cure the low mod on my cobra 19 dx iv eu or will it blow the front of the rig

that is simply bs, Ham radio shops rarely like CB people (I am a long time cber and also a ham.

On that radio there are two things you can do, look for the mod limiter and remove it or another more simple thing:
This radio comes with a 1000 ohm element in the mic--like speakers---Get a older or new 500 ohm microphone and wire it or have it wired for the 19 dx, it will make a big difference in how it sounds.

I not only worked on those radios but sold them in a shop I owned.

You might find a used mic that's 500 ohm, it is usually stamped into the back case of a mic.

External mic for ft 50 yaesu purchase

Yaesu offers the MH-34B4B Speaker Mic or the MH-37A4B Earphone Mic for the FT50 HT.

Speaker Mic (Heavy / Standard Duty)

Earphone Mic (Light Duty)

Any ham radio store should be able to obtain these - if they are still in production / stock by Yaesu. Ham Radio Outlet aka "HRO" has stores nationwide and can ship direct.

I hope this helps!

Break Channel...... Hey I just wanted to ask, how do I turn up the modulation on my RCI 2995 DX Ham radio? I am not talking about the mic gain. Inside the radio. Thanks in advance!!

For ham use which that DX model is for. the FM is preset and cannot be changed with adjustments. SSB andAM can be changed. But from factory should be good settings for amateur use.
