How do I change the spark plug that is next to the firewall on the passenger side on my 2007 Chevy Tahoe. The space is so small I can barely get my hands in there
The right sized socket extension is the key...try the smallest
one inch ext and socket...if you use to many universals, you can accidently twist the socket and break off the plug...Be sure you are using anti-seize on the new plugs also.
Use a socket and a bunch of extensions
This pat answer does not help me. I need an answer from someone who has changed this spark plug in a 2007 Chevy Tahoe with the 5.3 liter engin.
just so you know,I have changed plenty of number 8 plugs in a 5.3,remember,you have not,you cant pick and choose.
I'm sorry if I offened you. I was hoping for some specific steps on what to do, and maybe what not to do. The space is so small I thought maybe I had to remove some engine parts first. You are right that I have never done it before. My concern is that I may struggle and eventually get the old plug out but may not be able to get the new one back in. I can only get one hand in there at a time and after struggling for a bit and cutting up my hand on nearby engin parts I gave up, thinking there must be some special trick that someone could share with me. Also, I have seen some people recommending using an "anti-freeze" compound on the new plug threads . I have never used this before on all the other vehicles I have changed plugs on. I never even heard of it before. Is this something that you use when changing the plugs on your Tahoe? Is this something you feel is necessary. Thank you for your help.
anti sieze,it stops the plug from getting stuck in the motor so its easy to remove next time, remember you can seaarch onyoutube for changing number 8 plug on chevy tahoe, you can watch a video about it
Thank you!
Thank you for the video link you posted for me. After watching your video I was able to change the spark plug. Unbolting the oil dip stick from the engin block was the key info I needed to make changing the plug possible. Thanks again for your help.
you are welcome
