I am afraid you will need to have the cracked screen replaced and checked for any internal damage to the device and have that repaired, if necessary. There are probably several businesses in your area which can evaluate the damage and give you an estimate of the repair cost.
To find repair businesses in your area, I recommend you use Yelp.com (because it also offers reviews of businesses). You will want to enter the words "computer repair" in the Find box and enter the name of your location in the Near box.
Also, you can use YellowPages.com to find a computer repair business near you.
Note: You will probably have to pay an initial charge for a technician to make an evaluation.
Maybe Cracked screen???
If broken, the screen is just like cellphone screen, digitizer is also broken and screen won't respond to screen touches... Find a trained repair shop. EmbroideryServices
If there is physical damage to the touchscreen, then it can become unresponsive and will need to be replaced. The touchscreen is bonded to the glass (they are one piece), so both the touchscreen & glass will need to be replaced, even though the glass may not be cracked. Please see this link for more information and how to have the touchscreen replaced for you.
The part they are replacing is really not that expensive. Where the money comes in is the labor. Most of that cost is just to get them to show up. If you can remove it yourself (with help of course) you can take it in to be repaired. Of you could wait to find one on sale with the upcoming Christmas season and hopefully you can find a deal with free installation. The glass of the touchscreen should not have cracked. It would have taken quite a bit of pressure to crack the glass. Sorry for the bad news.
