SOURCE: Won't Power On...

Hello degaff, This is what I would do to try to determine the problem: 1. Disconnect everything from the receiver. The only thing connected should be the power cord. Make sure the power cord is disconnected from power for at least 30 minutes in order to reset the internal electronic software. 2. Then, power it up - still nothing else connected. If it powers up normally and "looks" like it is going to work, then turn it off and connect only the right speaker to its amplifier and try again. If it still looks normal, then turn it off and connect the DVD or CD player and run some music through that speaker. If it still looks normal, then shut it off and connect the left speaker, etc... In other words go one-by-one in checking it out. 3. If it does NOT power up after step ONE, then there is a problem internally. If it powers up only to shut down again, there is still a hardware problem internally. The usual cause is shorted output transistors. And the normal cause of shorted outputs is a short on the speaker line, a short inside one of the speakers or overdriving the amplifier for too long a period of time. If the outputs need replaced, then it will cost an arm and a leg to get them repaired, and you are better off replacing the unit. The clicking sound, by the way, is the power relay which turns the power transformer on. And if there are faults in the amp, speakers or wiring, the protection circuit shuts the relay off; that is the clicking sound you hear. Please let us know how this works, and if we can help you any further. Best regards, nightdiver

SOURCE: stand by button flashes but receiver wont turn on

I have vsx-d812 that has an AMP ERR in error menu. the troubleshooting was found to be Q696 and Q697 in the DC prot. area on "C" board, up near front toward diplay in center of c board. You can get access to error codes on VSX pioneer unit by pressing "enter" and "adv. surr." simultaneously for 2 sec. The display should show what error code you are experiencing. I believe there are three diff. error codes. 1) AMP ERR 2) OVERLOAD 3) BOAD ERR (not mistyped) I hope this helps pinpoint error code for ya.

SOURCE: Power Button Flashing Red

If your amp looks like it's going to work as normal (ie the front display lights up as it should etc), but then the amp goes into protection mode when the anti-thud circuit times out, then I know what's likely to be wrong.

It's one of the power amplifier channels which has gone faulty.

I just found this out after having this problem with my AVR-1906.

I took the amp apart and de-soldered the suspected channel power transistors (centre channel in my case).....and hey-presto! it fired up as normal (obviously the centre channel would be out of service).

I have ordered the replacement transistors from Farnell (UK) at a miserly cost of around £2-£3 each.

Just waiting for them to arrive.

An alternative is, if you don't use all your channels, take the transistors from a known working but not needed channel and swap them over with the duff ones.

Hope thats of use!

Why dont i have an internal recording device?

you have an internal recording device. It consists of a built-in webcam and microphone. to make a recording, use the cyberlink webcam program that's pre-installed on your laptop. you'll find it listed somewhere in the start / all programs list in windows 7. also, for sound recording only, the windows 7 audio recorder is located under start / all programs / accessories / sound recorder. select it and click the red record button. also, windows 7 has a feature or program called problem steps recorder. it records activity on your screen including mouse movement. i don't know if it records sound. to access it type psr in the search window and select psr in the search results, then click on start record.

I have just bought a Technics SH 8046 computer graphic equalizer WITHOUT an instruction manual,HOW DO I PROGRAMME IT!

Darren Kelly-themasterofthrowdown...I've had mine since they came out in 1985. Here's what you do...Each of the 4 channels on the upper right function as an individual equalizer. You set each channel one at a time. So, you have the ability to change channels on your e.q. without resetting your faders(you just push ch. 1 2 3 or 4) and the sound of the music will change according to how you set ch 1 2 3 or 4)DON'T UNPLUG THE SH-8046 WHILE THE MUSIC IS PLAYING OR YOU WILL LOSE YOUR CHANNEL SETTINGS -ALL YOU BLUE LINES WILL END UP STRAIGHT ACROSS AND YOU'LL HAVE TO RESET THE 4 PROGRAMS (AGAIN) you don't have to set all of them*--Now, you set them with your finger (sweeping it up and down on the touch-screen (REMEMBER TO PUSH THE (LOCK) BUTTON FIRST)you have to unlockit it...then you have the ability to adjust you frequencies(the blue lines)once you have a good sound, YOU PUSH A NUMBER...say, 1...then push MEMORY then push 1 again...AND CHANNEL 1 will be set ---do the same thing for the other channels --IF YOU PUSH THE L or R button you can set the E.Q. channels different from each other (if desired --it's just an extra function...and both settings will appear on the screen. But I just keep mine both the same(Left and Right). When you record music(like I do - being a Musician) it is important to be able to listen to the play-back-SO YOU HAVE TO PLUG THE CD RECORDER BACK IN TO (PLAYBACK ON THE REAR OF THE sh-8046-(PUSH (TAPE) TO LISTEN TO YOUR TAPE RECORDERorCD RECORDER)to hear what you recrding sounds like.PUSH -SOURCE- TO GO BACK TO REGULAR PLAY MODE---If you ever walk in and cut you system on and nothing happens, check to see if on SOURCE or TAPE-(rec eq) on the bottom right is supposed to make the music sound better, push it to cut it on/off when you make tapes/CD's the red light should cut on ...Reverse --flips your EQ settings upside down(not such a useful function)....I guess that's all I can tell you, this is the only EQ I need for my overall system and I haven't bought another one for the mixer. IT HAS NEVER MALFUNCTIONED IN 25 YEARS -- I'M USING IT RIGHT NOW FOR MAKING PROFESSIONAL SOUND QUALITY CD's. SO HAVE FUN! Darren Kelly- themasterofthrowdown@yahoo.com
