The tape keep getting catch up in the camcorder. Is there some adapter that can go in here but run like a dvd or sd card

Sounds like a mechanical fault, if it happens on more than one tape. You're out of luck as far as that camera is concerned, then. To repair it would likely cost about the same as purchasing a new camera, which now come with SD or internal flash memory or both. I would also stay away from cameras that record to DVD - moving parts make for high probability of failure.

I cannot record, in the corner where it says record, standby, it flashes the number C:31:40 I have a new TDK Hi 8 120 and it keeps flashing. Please help, thank cptaylor2000@yahoo.com

when problem occur while cam is operating, the self-diagnosis function starts working, and may display the service mode display code. in your case, C:31:40, pertains to a part of the cam tape compartment mechanism called the drum that doesn't start up. issues could prevent you from recording, playing back tapes, rewinding or fas forwarding. t/s steps are: try diff tapes esp. w/prev recordings, reset cam (press reset button while cam is on, located just below the menu button, in the panel where the lcd screen goes to), power reset (remove batt and ac adapter and leave cam w/ any power source for at least a minute). if issue persists, unit will require repair. hope this helps.tnx:)

Code: 31:23....please reinsert tape. everytime i switch it on.

dear

u need to rate me for that ..ok dude....

actually this error is related to s reel i.e, the supply reel of the camcorder and some time when we insert a new tape in camcorder it start giving the error because the amount of tension is more in new tapes as compared to the old ones (used one) . . try to use the old tape u would nt have any problem .

but with new tape u will have these kinds of problem some times , to solve this problem for new tape u need to take the camcorder to near by service center of sony .nd they will align the tape path of your camcorder .

Not recording or playing back recorded tapes

first leave your camcorder with the cassete draw open in a warm room for 24 hrs.
then, use a brand new cassette & re try.
if you get the condensation message, it means the unit has detected moisture on the heads, the unit will not operate... hence your problems.

"prot" error message on Alesis ADAT 16 bit recorder

I heated the mechanical sensor switch with a hair dryer. Probably caused a contact point to expand just enough to close the circuit.

Camera wont play or record has message c:31:23

Basically, the error message indiactes the reels are not turning, either because of a defective tape or a fault in the mechanism. Try a new tape. If the problem persists, you will have to have the camcorder serviced. please be sure to rate this solution. Thanks!

Defective mechanism, a stucked mechanism is present. camcorder are smart it can detects error and shuts down itself for safety. earlier models dominoes the defect if the user is not quick enough to react when something goes wrong with the camera. You need professional service to fix it. Check your tapes carefully, most cause of this trouble are due to defective tapes, especially sony brand, I recommend you use TDK tapes.
never force open any unit, it will only make things worst!!! [;0)

JVC Camcoder GR-DX77 has no Picture in Record Mode

Definitely, don't use Sony miniDV tapes! The fault occured because of rough handling of the mechanism during cassete insert or from dropping the camera.A guide arm inside the mechanism is deformed and the mechanism can be changed in whole for this.Contact a JVC authorized centre. The price for this can be half the price of a new camera. After all, it's your fault. This is a good camera if you know haw to handle/ use it!!!

Head cleaning

Quite often just the one clean won't dislodge the gunk built up on the heads. Make sure you use a new wet system head cleaner and you may have to run it a few times to clear the clog. JUST DON'T USE COTTON BUDS OR WOVEN RAGS. BMW

Optura Pi is eating tapes

hi from what i understand by "eat" is that the coil is popped out what it means is that the coil leader is misplaced and letting it to run free out of place this can be fixed by you if you will find what had gone wrong in that path (broken pin, cog etc...) and glue it back or fix the missing element in place good luck
