Question about Toshiba 32BV700B 32 in. LCD HDTV

1 Answer

Colour loss Initially, TV and DVD both working fine. TV on freeview from terrestrial aerial, occasional quirky noise and pixalization of picture once maybe twice a night. After switching on, picture clear but in B&W managed to get DVD to play in colour when PAL 60 selected. tried two other TVs on same aerial and work fine. Why have I lost colour on TV via aerial? since working in B&W no more quirky noises, think whatever was breaking down has died! What needs replacing to cure problem? Help please!

Try a reset to this set and check. If it do not help you, contact any service technician. There are two types of reset to TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset; and the other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight; will be better. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Service mode entry, adjust and exit procedure to many popular brand TVs are given. Never forget to exit the service mode, after all adjustments have been done.

TV OK when displaying Sky, but on terrestrial the picture occasionally breaks up with audio crack. Aerial signal is good, with a new aerial and aerial amplifier. Problem is gradually becoming more...

Sounds like a simple cable issue, have you tried switching out the audio source cable? Or are you running HDMI? if so I would switch out the HDMI cable also.. Hope this helps..

What would make the t.v have lines running horizontal and not give you a picture

It could be any number of things. Try to use systematic diagnostics to trace where the fault lies. Start at input end of system to find out which bits work and which don't.
  1. Do you get a picture using a video recorder, dvd player, gaming console? If yes the problem is with your tv signal.
  2. Connect a different tv to your antenna / satelite dish /- can you get an analogue picture? If no the antenna (aerial) may be faulty
  3. Does the satelite receiver / digital terrestrial (e.g Freeview) receiver give you a picture on a different tv? If yes it could be either a technical fault with your tv or it needs retuning to the correct stations (enter setup menu and reinstall stations as per user instruction manual)

I have an Alba 32880hdf freeview tv. I cannot record freeview programmes to my panasonic NV-FJ 780 vcr which has 2 scart sockets. I have no problem recording the teresteral channels. Can you help pls

Hi Victor,

You can't record the Freeview channels from the TV. It doesn't work that way. The reason you can still record terrestrial channels is because the VCR is still connected to your roof aerial with a co-axial cable and the VCR has its own built-in analogue tuner for recording terrestrial TV programmes.

To record the digital Freeview channels, you will either need to connect a separate Freeview set-top box to the VCR, or buy a VCR which has a built-in digital (DVB-T) tuner.

The VCR does not record programmes from the TV. It needs to be connected directly to the signal source, i.e. your aerial.

If you need any further assistance, please let me know.

Regards,
BElectric

I want to add a DVD recorder into my TV set up

If I'm right On the DVD recorder there should be an aerial input and an output. Connect external aerial to the output then run a second from the output to the TV. Then use the HDMI to connect the DVD. This will then give you the option of recording one channel on the DVD whilst watching another thru the receiver thats built into the TV. You will then get the best poss picture when viewing DVD

Connecting a freeview box

Your dvd player should be connected to the TV INPUT under norma conditionsl. What kind of recorder are you using? VCR player ?, Is it also a VCR recorder ( one cannot assume because I happened to own a VHS\vcr PLAYER, not player & recorder)Is Your VCR recorder? Then It must be connected to freeview box with universal scart to RCA converter box.You have "" dvd player in av2, vcr av1"" where? TV? freeview box scart connector ?
You will need scart to RCA converter box for sure.

Similar problem as you helped me solve before.

OK, I think I see the problem there.
The aerial lead from the DVDR to TV should be removed.
You should have it setup the same as the other Freeview - VCR - TV
Nutshell time:
Main aerial to Freeview input.
Loop aerial from freeview output to DVDR areial input (all this does is allow you to watch freeview, or standard both out of the DVDR)
So..
Scart from Freeview to DVDR input
Scart from DVDR output to TV
Set DVDR to AV input mode.
Set TV to AV (whatever number you need for that..you now won't get anything on screen unless you have the right input selected)

If you can now see the Freeview picture on the TV and change the channels with the Freeview remote then you should be set for recording.

Having the aerial and a scart lead both going to the TV is not needed.
