My Rancher doesn't maintain high rpm. What's wrong?

I checked the spark arrester and it is clean as a whistle.

Most 2-cycle chain saws have 3 carburetor adjustments; idle speed, low RPM fuel/air mix and high RPM fuel/air mix. The fuel/air mix needle valves will probably require a "special" driver tool to adjust them. Be careful with the adjustments, you can really mess things up by incorrectly adjusting them, then your saw goes from running poorly to not at all.

Eng runs with choke 3/4 on. wont reach max rpm

Double-check your mix; it's easy to have too much oil in it which will foul the spark plug and gum up the carb. Also clean / replace the spark plug. It may have a clogged spark arrest screen... remove the exhaust cover & look for a metal mesh screen.

No rpm

There are a few things to look at. Try checking carb adjustments. High speed may need to be backed out a little (1quarter). There is also a spark arrester, this is the screen at muffler exit. This can be removed usually held in place by 1 or 2 screws. Remove it and using a small torch burn it clean and reinstall. Hope this gets ya going hfisser.

vacume leaks will cause that listen around for any hissing or whistling and fix any if found.

Blower will not achieve maximum rpms and bogs down when accelerated

most new homelites etc have the high speed screw too lean because of epa standards---you usually need a special tool either a splined or pac man screwdriver to open the adjustment screw another 1/4 to 1/2 turn to get the right rpm's
