If the headphone jack is damaged, an electronics repair facility can most likely fix it. Sending it back to the manufacturers repair service will get it fixed quickly and correctly

I have the nakamichi re 1. One of the speakers is playing much lower than the other. This is consistent with the headphones also. Any ideas? Thank you

Does this problem happen on only one input, or on all inputs?

Either way, the problem is in the preamp circuitry as it happens with the headphones & speakers. Unfortunately this would be a repair for a professional.

Your headphone jack is either contaminated or broken. Clean any debris you see inside, if that doesn't help, it may need replacement. If you want somebody else to do it for you go to Macbook Repair. If you want to do it yourself, here is an Macbook Repair Guide that shows how to repair a Macbook.

Sound through headphones only.

Try the speakers on another computer, to see if they work at all. If they do, then the problem is the audio-interface on your computer (or DVD-player, or home-stereo system).

Input fitting on headphone has broken, can this be fixed?jack wont stay plugged in

Hello. Yes it can be fixed. Take your headphone to any radio shack store and show it to one of the technicians there. They will show you the component you need to make the repair. Many times, a dab of one minute clear epoxy will mend too. Regards, Joe

Unfortunately, you'll probably have to send the earphones to Shure for repair/replacement.

I had a similar problem and solved it by simply blowing in the headphone jack (h/p input).

Headphone jack

Your best bet is to find a shop that repairs Ipods. Your headphone jack is breaking away from the printed circuit board and needs resoldered. Shouldnt be too expensive. My shop would charge $25-$40 for a repair like that.
