Question about Samsung RF26XAERS 26 Cu. ft. French Door Refrigerator - Stainless

How can I tell if my water line tank heating element is broken? Should it get warm to the touch?

My water dispenser wasn't working. After diagnosis, the problem turned out to be a frozen water tank/tube. I want to know if it sounds like my heating element that surrounds and thaws that tank is broken. There are the proper 12 volts DC measured coming out of the fridge to the element, but the element does not seem to get warm to the touch. I do not know how warm or hot it is supposed to get. An ohmmeter measures 69 ohms across the element. I don't know if that is the proper resistance or not. I can easily buy a replacement heating element, but I don't know if this one is broken or not. Should it get warm or hot to the touch?

No it should not. If fridge fan is working water should not freeze.
check for fan motor operation.

SOURCE: samsung fridge RS2630SH, side by side, icing up on freezer.

You have to pull out the sensor from the board and test with tester, both sensor should read the resistance of 10,000 to 20,000 ohms. The reading that you show is very low it means that the thermistor is out of range and need replacement.

SOURCE: fridge condensation - freezer thawing

OK now I'm wondering are theses numbers your getting 4 -9 the actual temps of the refrigerator and the freezer? and do they feel this cold and correct to you? I know the refrigerator side shouldn't be below 34 or so and definitely not below 32. If this is correct and the numbers are not settings but temps. (Now if you have a touch pad its electronic. If it has knobs it has a separate defrost and thermostat and are electro-mechanical)
If electronic Your control board and possibly defrost control are out.
It would more likely be the sensors going to the board(s) It will both sensors have the possibility of causing your problem. 1 will control the run of the compressor (and this one could and probably is connected to the inside coil) and 1 will control the air damper tween the refdg and freezer compartments, and may turn on the inside fan operation too.

(this would be my first suspect if these are degrees numbers). Look at the thermostat control see if it is attached to the indoor coil (usually the tube leavign the indoor section. If its not attached its not sensing the coil temp and when goes into defrost wala its not senmsing temps like its designed to do. Look for a broken clip or possible a plastic wire tie that holds this sensor in place.

Please get back to me with what you see - find on this look up.

SOURCE: Samsung RS267TDRS Refrigerator -- no water coming

The most common reason water stops are 1. The water line has frozen, but its not the part in the freezer door. Behind the crisper bins in the fresh food section, you might not see it but it behind the back wall. Heat up that area with a hair dryer, or if its not full shut it off for 24 hours and it will do the trick. 2. The pump that sends the water to the dispencer is dead, it will be located behind the ref lower left hand side behind panel (follow the water line) part # DA74-40149D, you can order it at marcone.com for about 27.00
Good luck, if those dont work let me know

My coffe maker will not dispense water?

The heating element has gone bad. Since it is not a user-serviceable part, I recommend replacing the coffeemaker.

In the future, make sure you do not add water to the reservoir unless the coffeemaker has been turned of for at least five minutes. This will help prolong the life of the heating element.

The heating element will naturally degrade over time. But, it can incur sudden damage when the reservoir is refilled with water too soon - while the element is still hot. Because of the simple design, if the coffeemaker is on, then both the warming plate's heating element and the reservoir's heating element are on. So, after a brewing cycle is complete, the reservoir's heating element stays on. Without any in the reservoir to keep it cool, the heating element superheats. So, if water is put in the reservoir while the coffeemaker is on or before the element has adequately cooled, the sudden burst of steam from the water contacting the element can be quite violent.

Diagnosis Electric Hot Water Tank Problems and Repair It

I understand that you electric hot water tank is not producing hot water. To diagnosis the problem we will need a few tools. Here is a list of the tools you will need.

Multi-meter
Screw driver (Flat and Philips)
¼ inch nut driver or ratchet and socket
5/16 inch nut driver or ratchet and socket

Diagnosis Electric Hot water tank problems:

1. First you will need to remove the service panels on the side of the hot water tank to expose the thermostat and heating elements. Careful as power is still on to the unit. Now that you have removed the service panels we need to proceed to the next step.

2. On the thermostat there are two wires coming into the top two screws these are line one and line two they are the main power feed. Take your probes from the multi-meter and touch to each screw and you should receive a reading of 220 volts. If you receive this reading then move to the next step. If you do not get a 220 reading then your breaker is tripped or bad.

3. Got the proper power then you will want to check the thermostat reset button. In the middle of the thermostat is a red button press it in and see if it clicks. If the button clicks it means that the thermostat has tripped do to over heating. Wait an hour and see how your hot water is doing. If still the same replace the thermostat.

4. Use your multi meter to check for power to the heating elements. The heating elements have two screws with wires on them. You will want to take one probe to each screw and see what the VAC reading is (if power is present you should receive 220 volts) if you do not get the correct reading then the thermostat needs replaced. You will need to do the same thing to the lower element.

5. To check the heating elements turn off the power to the unit at the breaker. Check to make sure the power is off by using your meter at the thermostat. Remove the wires off of the element and check it for continuity if not continuity then the element is bad and needs replaced.

Replacing the Thermostat

1. Turn off the power.
2. Label and remove all wires from the thermostat
3. Pull clips forward on sides and pull thermostat upward to remove
4. Install new thermostat in reverse

Replacing the Element(s)

1. Turn off power to the unit
2. Turn off water to hot water tank and drain
3. Remove element from tank
4. Slide new element in tank
5. Turn water supply on and check for leaks
6. Reconnect wires
7. Turn on hot water faucet some where in the house to allow air to escape from tank.
8. Turn power on once hot water tank is full.

Have a GE side c side and can't get water thru the

go here and look at part number 810,this is the water tank in the fridge section, get a hair dryer and heat up the tank where the water lines connect to it,also g.e. has problems with the water line in the freezer door the line freezes up.also when was the last time you changed the water filter?try this, open the freezer door and remove the bottom kickplate,on the left side you'll find a connector for the water line, disconnect it shut the door and hit the water dispenser,if water comes out of line where you disconnected it then you know the line in the door is frozen,if no water comes out i would change the filter and it that doesn't work i'd have to say you have a bad water valve.one more thing and this might sound crazy but if i didn't see it myself i wouldn't believe it,when you went to dispense water have you ever noticed that the condenser fan motor would sound like it was slowing down and also the strip in the middle where the doors close together touch it to see if it's hot,i've found three mother boards bad from this,i'd dispense water, and the fans would slow down, i hope i'm not confusing you by telling you this, lets stick with the basic things first disconnect the water line under the freezer door and behind the kickplate, shut the door and hit the dispenser,if water comes out of the hose the water line is frooze in the door,if no water comes out, heat up the water tank with a hair dryer, after a while like 5 to 10 minutes hit the dispenser but water will leak out the tube if the tanks frozen,if that doesn't do the trick i would change the water filter and if that doesn't work bad water valve,if you look down where the kickplate is you should find a tech sheet that will tell you how to jump out the ice maker, now what did you change out the ice maker?you said you changed two parts, what's happening that you changed the ice maker, was it not getting water to it,i mean if you're not getting water through the door and no water to ice maker, you either have a bad water valve or filter, start there and heat up the water tank,if that's frozen you won't get any wateralso look at this it will tell you how to start the harvest cycle on the ice maker,i beleive you shut it off for 20 seconds, turn it back on and move the arm in and out like three times.

hope this helps and good luck, let me know please what you find.

WATER IS LUK WARM AND NEVERS GETS ANY HOTTER. I HAVE REPLACED UPPER THERMOSTAT AND BOTH ELEMENTS

If you have some hot water on 2-element tank, that tells us specific information.
- You have 240Volt heater
- Electricity to heater is good, circuit breaker is good.
- Reset button is not tripped.
- You do not have overheating event, so access covers and insulation are in place.
- Upper element is working. If upper element is no good, then heater makes no hot water.

That leaves 3 suspects:
1) Upper or lower thermostat. I always replace both thermostats.
Take 30 minutes and do complete troubleshoot
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-troubleshoot-electric-problems-with-water-heater.html
2) Loose or broken wire between upper and lower areas of tank.
3) Lower element is bad.

Lukewarm water...tank empty...how do I fill it if it is supposed to fill automatically from an outside line?

It looks like this brewer has a fill lid on top. If you remove the screw on the lid you can remove it and pour cold water through (1/2 gallon per pot). If the brewer was energized and NOT filled with water before hand there is a good chance that the heating element burned up. The reason you would still get "lukewarm" water is due to the keep warm heater around the tank. It is a low voltage warmer that keeps the reservoir warm without the main heating element kicking in.

Top heating element was broke. Replaced got hot water for week. Now have to run hot water for 20 mins before it goes from warm to hot. Top heating element reads 240VAC bottom heating element reads...

look for a badly connected power line ont he bottom element, or any connection upstream of the power terminals. voltage readings usually drop to that range when you only have one side of the 220v circuit connected.

What is the the test for the heat element

All you need to do is set your controls to heated dry cycle, and see if the interior heats up nice and warm. You can also check the element by touching it when it is not heated, and note how warm it is, and then when you run the heat cycle. Careful not to burn yourself.

Warm water only

You can eliminate the shower control knob possibility by turning on your hot water anywhere else in the house. If you get hot water in other places, then it could be the knob causing it. A substantial lime buildup in the tank can also cause poor heat transfer from the elements to the water.

Water dispenser not working

2 possible problems.
#1 water valve for the water side is stuck in the closed position.  Only way to tell is to pull the bottom kick panel out and look for the water line disconnect.  Separate the line, close the door and try to draw water through the dispenser.  If the water comes out of the disconnected line, then the water valve is good.
#2  if water is coming out of disconnected line, then the problem is in the freezer door.  There is a heater that keeps the water line from freezing inside the freezer door.  It is not repairable!!  The freezer door has to be replaced.
