Question about Dell 942 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Dell 942 all-in-one inkjet copies have faded edge

Printing is fine, but when copying, one edge of the paper fades from about a 1/2 inch out. Rest of page is copied fine. Ink cartridges appear to be fine for all other print jobs.

All my colored prints have 2 one inch strips of faded color. What do I need to do?

First tray printing a black and white copy to see if you get same quality problem then try each individual color. If it shows on each copy then check The transfer belt Assy . If it only shows on one color then would be a drum unit or could be toner on laser shield glass . Other thing stop it during copying process and see where it's coming from look at drums and see if that shows up on them

Dell 1110 faded print left side

If you have trid a different toner cartridge, then I would first try a new drum (not sure if toner & drum are in same cartridge, some are so you will have to check that) If not that, then I would suggest the transfer roller bar would be my next suspect if the printer has a lot of copies done on it.

I have a HP 7590 printer and it sometimes skips line or some of the lines are faded when printing black .

Perform the following steps to reduce or eliminate faded or grainy lines:
  1. Print at a higher quality setting.
  2. Verify that the paper you are printing on will lay flat. Paper that is not laying flat can cause banding when the paper transitions over the rollers or cause the print cartridges to scrape across the surface of the page. Check the top sheet of paper by removing it from the all-in-one and placing it on a flat surface. If the paper does not lie flat, bend it in the opposite direction to straighten it. Faded printing on 5x7 size paper

Sure. One of the papers is probably clay based (Shiny) and one is rag based (rough and dull). Clay based produces the most vibrant inkjet images and rag based produces the best laser printer images. I bet the two papers are different in composition. I see this all the time.

Hello - my Brother DCP 330C printer is printing horizontal faded lines on both color and Black and white copies. I have changed the toner in all areas but still no change. Could the problem be with the...

I have a brother MFC 3240C. My Black ink stopped printing(initially printed horizontal faded lines and gradually got worse), the other colors were printing fine. I tried cleaning numerous time( 50 -100 times over 1-2 weeks ). Still no improvement. The way I print now is:
1. I go to Printer Properties
2. Change Media type from "Plain Paper" to "Inkjet Paper".
3. Change Quality to "Photo".

This takes a long time to print 1-2 minutes per page. However, this works for me since this is my Home printer and use it for printing only few pages here are there.

Good Luck

I have fading on the right hand side. Printer Dell 3100CN

Dell printers are junk. But you have put a lot of money into this thing. Check the alignment of the black drum, could be that something is keeping if off track a little bit.
