Installing updates and downloading programmes

I cannot install any updates or download programmes on my computer. I have just bought a new printer and cannot install the operating manual from the setup disc. I have since discovered that even patches fail and am mystified as to what is causing this. Does anyone have any ideas?

I'm getting fearful reports about an unannounced and unexpected change in the status of the botched KB 3000850 patch, a massive Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 rollup that was released out of band in the middle of November. The patch, which caused all sorts of mayhem, was pulled, then reissued as an "optional" update. On March 2 the patch was apparently upgraded to "important," causing many users to wonder what had happened -- and whether they should install it immediately.

Here's how Microsoft describes the huge (400MB) KB 3000850 in the KB article:

This November update rollup also includes all previous updates since the previous image update in April 2014. This is a convenient single step to bring Windows clients and servers up to date. Unlike our April update, the November update rollup is not required to be able to continue to receive security or other updates. However, we strongly recommend that you deploy it to Windows clients and servers to benefit from these new features and improvements as well as to prevent many known issues that have been resolved since April. This update is thoroughly tested to the same quality level as our previous service packs. I count more than 60 patches in the November rollup. When released, it immediately bricked computers running Avast antivirus, and other problems appeared. Avast fixed the problem with its update 141125-1, issued near the end of November.
I can't find any reference to the change from "optional" to "important," but it appears there was no change in the patch itself to warrant the new status. At least, the official Windows Update changelog doesn't mention any change in the patch this year. The KB article doesn't mention any changes, either, although it was updated on March 2, with no explanation given. It's now up to version 11.0.
My take: If you haven't installed it, don't install it yet. There's nothing pressing in the rollup -- no threat to withhold future updates, for example.
Instead, wait for this month's Patch Tuesday release on March 10. At this point, more than 20 separate nonsecurity patches are waiting to be rolled out the Automatic Update chute. Let's see what happens when the smoke clears toward the end of this month and see if any more KB 3000850-specific complaints emerge.

Software download


The last time I had a problem like this I had to look up the type of printer on my computer as well a copier and sometimes there are links to download the new updated version/software.

Also if there is a cord that connects to a computer and the the printer (if you still have it) connect it to one another and your computer should say there needs to be updates and installments that need to take place.

But how I fixed my problem was finding out the exact printer make and model it was and finding a link to install the new updates and it will download the new software.

Try to reinstall the software. Download an updated driver online at http://bit.ly/wCAlcm. Just choose the operating system of your computer.

After installing the updated driver, insert the installation CD and install the additional software.

basically go to nero .com download the nero 9 update (roughly 250 mb i think) when u bought nero 9 u should have a licence sent to u possibly in one of your emails if u purchased on the internet install nero9 and put in the licence u purchased then u are done

I assume you mean the drivers are not downloading properly. Try unplugging the printer's USB cable and uninstalling the driver (in case it stalled part way), then plug in the USB cable again and let Windows 7 download and install the driver. You must have Windows update set to download and install all updates. Otherwise, you'll have to go through the Windows update manager to install the drivers.

The Lexmark site did have some time out problems for me so you may want to try again in a bit.

Click here to select what type and support you need

You can go straight to Supports and Drivers to download software after you select the OS your using. Or choose setup and install which verifies your installation.
With this printer, I would select the first and biggest Driver software to download and install. After installation, I would click the first tab on the download page to continuously update the hp software.

Please do not connect the printer to the computer until software is installed, and the computer has re-booted.
I found this out the hard way.

When hp printer software is installed, and the computer has re-booted, connect the printer to the computer using the your chosen link, or the USB link, and make sure the printer is on. You will see some reaction coming from your computer, and in a little while you'll be ready to operate your printer.

Since you plan to using most of the feature with this printer, I would go back and select additional software and updates that I think I would need for this printer.

I bought a hp deskjetf4235 printer and tried to download it to my new windows Vista computer and it gets to where it installs driver and it hangs and is unsucessfull have tried 3 printers know all three...


Here is the download page for your printer. It also has a critical update you should download after you install the new drivers. Before downloading and installing the new drivers, make sure you go to add /remove in the control panel and remove the old driver and software for the printer.

Hi , Hi, try updating your printer drivers:

Create a new folder on your desktop and name it newhpdrivers(substitute your manufacturer in new name). Un-intall printer and printer software completely. Go to manufacturers website and navigate to their drivers/downloads or support menu. Select your model, choose the relevant software and download to the new folder you created on your desktop. Power down your computer. Reconnect the printer to the computer and turn printer on. Power on pc. Windows will detect new hardware and ask if you have the manufacturers install cd or a location to check for install files. Direct the wizard to your new software, follow the rest of the setup instructions and your done

p.s. look for the vista compatibilily update patch also.

Computer will not communicate with printer


Ckeck in control panel & se if the driver software installed. It should be listed in Add/remove programs. If it is, power up the piinter & load windows Vista update service. See if Vista has any patches for you're printer. If no, goto Lexmark & go to the driver section for you're P4350 printer software for Vista. While in Vista update, install any updates listed.

Creat a folder on you're desktop & down load the latest driver software in-to the folder you created. Uninstall any Lexmark software that might have been in add/remove programs. Install the driver software you downloaded. If all this still fails, call Lexmark since this is a new printer. The number should be in you're manul. Or you can go here for free support.
