According to the second page of the manual (found online at the link provided), it sounds like your detector has reached end of life and must be replaced. CO detectors have a finite life span.

My unit keeps chirping every 30 seconds even after replacing the batteries. The unit is over 5 years old.

The manufacturer has written this in their manual for your unit...

"Err" displayed -battery icon may show any state of battery capacity. One quick beep every 30 seconds. Unit is Error condition

Replace batteries. If "Err" (or blank display) continues, unit has malfunctioned. Replace immediately.

Display Err and dot flashing, plus chirp every 20 seconds

If the display shows "Err", push and hold the Peak Level button. Does the display change to "E09"? If so, then you have just been "had" by the grossly under-documented "planned obsolescence feature" called, rather matter-of-factly, "End of Life". This means that ~7 years after first being powered up, the unit will, BY DESIGN, cease to function, forcing you to buy a replacement. Would have been nice of Kidde to include THAT warning on the OUTSIDE of the package. Call their "Hotline" at 1-800-880-6788 and tell them what you think of that policy. If it is still under warranty (5 or 7 years depending on date of manufacture) they should replace it. In any event, buy another one; if they replace your first one you will have twice the protection. Not a bad thing. *Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer, despite the handle. Words to live by: "Every creative act results from a sudden cessation of stupidity." -Edwin H. It says err. on screen and beeps every 30 sec

An intermittent chirping every 20secs and an ERROR message 1.e. err indicates COMPONANT FAILURE and the appliance should be returned under warranty if still in force for replacement.

Nikon D50 Flashes Err and clicks

hi..
This screen shows areas of the photo that are overexposed slightly.
It flashes them to help you.
You get to this screen by pressing the up or down arrows when displaying the pictures you have taken.

To change it just press the up arrow when the camera is showing the screen until you get a display without flashing.

Once you have done this the display will be steady.
If you get any other screen in future you may have accidently pressed the arrow again.
Just cycle thru the displays to get back to steady.

thank u

Carbon monoxide detector err code

Detecotrs have a limited lifespan of 5-7 years. So sounds like you need new one (It's not worth to buy just a sensor). Take a look on amazon: Amazon com Carbon monoxide detector (watch out on reviews). I hope this was helpful. cheers
