It sounds like a bad panel, which is not what you want to hear. Replacing the panel on a Plasma TV usually costs more than just replacing the TV. However a bad panel causes vertical lines exactly as you describe.

hi,
Its not problem with any setting. Its an internal fault. Vertical scanning output stage has failed in your tv. You have to check the soldering of the vrtical output ic if there is any dry soldering this can happen. try to resoder all the points in the vrtical output stage. IF doesn't help then you have to change the vertical output ic. Have added the picture of the dry soldering point how it looks like. If you need further assistance feel free to contact throug FixYa.

My digistar tv does not turn on but the red standby light is on

If this is a standard TV, I would be searching for a bad start up capacitor. I always search for a 160 volt to 200 volt at 1Mf or 2.2Mf. These go down in a hurry. They are usually you standby cap and also operate the horizontal deflection. Also look for a 160 volt to 200 volt 4.7 Mf capacitor, these go bad as well. Second, be sure you have good grounds on your vrtical IC (LA 78XX series). You may need to resolder these pins, do not short them together with excess solder. You may resolder the large flyback transformer, sometimes a bad ground here, will not let your TV come on. I have not repaired this particular model. But I would certainly start with the info I give you. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

This is a vertical circuit problem that is either bad connections on the vertical IC or a defective IC. If you can solder, you can fix this yourself. Look for a small flat IC attached to a heatsink with about 9-11 pins. It may be marked LA7837 or something similar. Try resoldering the pins first. If that fails to resolve the problem, replace the IC. There may be defective caps in the circuit as well, but those don't usually cause complete vertical failure. If the picture does not return fully, update this and we'll continue on to the next step.

Weird TV

the audio is perfect, but the screen vertically squeezes to about a quarter of an inch and stays horizontally regular. it is due to vertical section of your tv has failed. it is a common problem if you are not a tech person call tech to fix it. solution 1 check vertical section supply. 2 check components in vrtical output stage. 3 check vertical output ic. 4 loose contact in vertical section it is not a major ptoblem. good luck.
