You may have to remove it from mower and bolt it to a bench and lever it back into shape,if it's folded badly on itself you may have to oxy heat it to get it back into shape

if it got knocked off, i'd guess it hit something pretty darn hard. i'd check first for bent blade[s], then bent or broken mandrels

SOURCE: deck is leveled, blades are fine, spindle not bent it still cuts

there was a problem with the lighter gauge decks [thinner steel], and the deck would actually bend inward on the left side. this would tilt the mandrel inward making the blade cut at a slight angle to the right blade - there is tool to straighten the deck [the left mandrel housing usually breaks, though] - some shops have this tool, others have never heard of such a thing - most sears l&g field techs have this tool in their trucks - i have the tool in my shop, but i have had luck with turning the deck over and whapping it a couple of times on the inside edge of the left mandrel until the blades line up

SOURCE: Deck may be bent?

On your problem it is diffiuct to say. I don't know how old it is and if it has been run hard in gravel or how many roots you hit. However if the blades hit it hard enough you may have hit the deck brackets. You need to get it no concrte so you can mesure the for corners of the deck on the level surface, then check which side and if it's front or back that is higher. Most likely the lowering arm Is what is bent where the lever you Drop the deck down with is, look tthere first. Also look at the top of the deck and side to side at the lawen mower and see if you can see if the deck is up higher on one spot more than anywhere else. . I know this is confuseing but hope you understand what I am saying. I would also check the front axle mesure the top o the axle on both sides are they even? Yes? then mesure from ground to top of the hood on the lawnmower. Good luck.

I hit a metal pipe with my cub cadet zero turn lawn mower today. Now it smokes under the deck when I engage the blades and it is not cutting the grass. Have I ruined my mower?

You'll need to look under the deck w/ the mower not running and see why the blades aren't turning. Most likely something is bent (maybe blade) and hitting something. The smoke is probably from the belt slipping and getting hot.

My 42 inch Toro seems to be cutting unevenly. The blades seem to be on correctly and I hope I haven't hit something to set the angle wrong

First thing to check is that the deck is level by the adjustments on wheels. Then check the bearings in the spindle housings and there is no play in the shaft when you try to move blade up and down. You then can measure from the blade tip bottom of deck on both sides (3 o'clock and 9 o'clock, and then 12 o'clock and 6'o clock They should all be the same. If not then either the shaft is bent, or the deck is bent slightly causing the blade not being parallel to the deck. If you have someone rotate the shaft you should be able to tell if the shaft is bent or not. If the deck is bent, then you will have to straighten it out till the spindle shaft is perpendicular to deck.

The mower is mowing uneven in the front. what can i do? it seems that it is scalping the grass but both sides are level

Look under the mower deck. If you can't see well and work on it, you may have to remove the mower deck and flip it over on the ground. Grass and mud buildup in the decj could cause a blade to pinch grass, 'scalping' the lawn. Clean it all out. Dull blades cause cut grass to look torn and brown. Remove and sharpen. Bent blade will cause uneven cut. Replace it. Good luck! Please rate if you found this helpful, thanks!
