Are you on cable? satellite?
all it takes is one bad connection to wipe out 90% of your signal...

SOURCE: LG Plasma TV 42''
These problems are probably bad inverter board that supply the inverted voltages to the back lights. It also could be a failure of the back light itself. This problem should be taken to a service center, where they can test the inverter board and the back lights. You can got to the website of the product and check out the frequently asked questions to see if your problem or similar one have been posted and answered. Hope this helps you with your problem.

You could have a Driver Board that has a loose connection or a Ribbon Cable that has a intermittent connection to the Plasma Panel, or a defective Plasma Panel. Either one could cause the problem and I would recommend only a Qualified Service Person to check it out.
Here is LG's Customer Service Number. 1800-243-0000. They could direct you to a Local Service Facility.
I hope this helps,

SOURCE: channel scan only finds 1
the LG will scan several tuning bands TV, DTV, CATV, CADTV
you must let it work through all of these in programming mode.
use the channel up and down button to see just what it has picked up.
the Manual Channel menu will allow you to add or delete what channels you want to surf.
if your programming in unsuccesful, unplug the TV (power) for five seconds then plug back in (reboot)
and attempt the complete setup all over again.
if it still fails, your tuner is bad...which means you need a new main board.
