There should be a screw in the middle of the chuck that needs to be removed, then unscrew the chuck some are reversed treads so make sure you turn opposite of what your accustomed to and install chuck in reverse order.

How do I open the chuck or drill mouth to replace the drill present in my DeWalt Heavy-Duty 3/8? Keyless Chuck Drill?

Hi Tony,

To remove the bit with a keyless chuck, just turn the chuck to the right (looking from the handle to the front) to open the jaws. To put in another bit, tighten the chuck to the left to close. You have to use both hands. You will see where the ridged portion of the chuck is in two sections. Hold on to the back section with your left hand to keep it from turning while you turn the front section with your right hand.

A lot of the time I just push the button to put the drill in reverse, hold on the front section of the chuck and turn it on. It will loosen by itself. Then when you put the new bit in, put it in forward and hold on to the chuck and press the switch. The bit will be in nice and tight.

Good luck.

Please place a vote when you accept this solution.
Thanks,
Handie Andie

How do I take a bit out?

It is a keyless chuck. Put the drill in reverse (chuck should spin to the left when viewed from the back) and hold the main body area of the chuck with your hand while slowly running the drill. The chuck will open (unless it is broke) and release the bit. You do the opposite (slowing running the drill in forward) for tightening a bit in the chuck.

Will not drill straight.

It is my pleasure to guide you.

1. Check the straightness of the drill.
a. lay the drill on a flat surface and roll the drill across the surface. You can tell if the drill is bent.

2. Is the drill chucked off center? That is easy to do when you put the drill into the chuck and tighten the chuck. Sometimes the drill shaft will get caught in the check grippers out of center.

3. Make sure the drill head and or table is not at the 0 degrees the way they should be.
a. This can be done with a small T-Square. Put a drill that you know is straight into the chuck. Put the T-Square on the table against the drill. You should be able to tell if the drill chuck is out of square. If you have a straight edge that has a level bubble you will be able to tell easier.

Good luck and please post back that you are successful or that I can be more helpful.

HOW DO I PUT THE QUICK RELEASE CHUCK ON A BOSCH HAMMER 11236VS?

I don't know that drill in detail but in general chucks for this type of machine are removed by pulling back the plastic ring behind the chuck and pulling the chuck out. So hold the drill with the chuck facing away fron you and grip the plastic ring behind the chuck (nearest you). Pull this toward you and pull the chuck away from you. Replacing a chuck is the reverse.

How do I change a bit

This drill uses a keyless chuck. which means you have to hold onto the barrel by the end of the drill chuck. Then you need to put the drill in reverse to open the chuck to put a bit in. Insert a bit and then put the drill back into forward and hold chuck to tighten.

Tip poped off and cant put it back on

IF the whole chuck came off then you just palm the chuck in you hand with the end against your palm, with your fingers pull the sleeve back put it back on the drill. release the sleeve and turn the chuck until it snaps into place.

If it is just the rubber dust protector on the end of the chuck. Put a little grease on it and push it back into place. It is just a friction fit

Hi i broke the chuck on my 1/2 makita cordless

Put the biggest hex key you have in the chuck and tighten it then hit it clockwise with the spindle lock engaged a couple of times. The screw in the chuck will then undo clockwise and the chuck can be undone after by putting the allen key back in and unscrewing it anti-clockwise maybe with a light tap from a mallet.
Hope this helps

Put the screw back in the chuck, tighten it up then back it out 1 turn. Take a punch, put it in the chuck and give it a quick hit with a hammer. That should do the trick.
