Re: Why does it lockup?
Have yet to see a laptop that scans. sounds like you have a scanner attached to one, and are asking why the laptop locks up during the scanning process.
the biggest issues are: a 'registry' that isn't working at optimum and total available memory. Glary Utilities, is a free for private use program suite that can keep all the 'gremlins' at bay as far as your registry's functionality available through: glarysoft.com I recommend it. Its free and works.
Secondly, look into upgrading your memory for your laptop. Scans are pictures and generally require loads of memory. If you can upgrade? Do it.

To auto preset channels do the following procedure.
1. Press the SETUP button on the remote.
2. Using UP/DOWN arrow Select CHANNEL SET UP and press the RIGHT arrow to enter to channel preset
3. Using UP/DOWN arrow select AUTO PRESET and press the RIGHT arrow to start the auto scan.
Wait till The tuner scans and memorizes all the active channels in your area.
Try this:1. Turn on player. 2. Open disc tray. 3. Wait till 'Open' appears on screen 4. Type 9 6 5 3 5. Press up or down button to reach REGION option 6. Press OK button 7. Scroll UP/Down to TEST0 , press OK 8. Press setup again to exit Let me know if it works!
1- Turn off power and unplug from power source. 2- Open right side of printer (looking at the front). 3- Disconect,by pulling gently, the flat ribbon cable off the main circuit board that is the smaller of the two. 4- Plug in power source and turn printer on. [NOW WAIT FOR 2 MINUTES]. 13- Reconect the flat ribbon cable by aligning and carefully pushing into the conector on the main circuit board. 14- Plug in power source,and turn on power. 15- When printer boots up, answer the questions on the printer screen for your area. 16- The printer will cycle the ink from the cartridges to the print head and back.

6- Reconnect the flat ribbon cables by aligning and carefully pushing into the conectors on the main circuit board.
7- Plug in power source and turn printer on (Printer preparing occurred).
8- voila, the nasty error message 0xc18a0001 "Ink System has Failed" is now gone.
