Is your machine Dell based running Windows? If so I have some bad news. Dell and Microsoft have been having an issue with updates.

Sometimes a windows update will kill Dell's sound drivers. Dell says it's a Windows issue, Microsoft says its a Dell issue, and no one wants to spend the time to fix it. This is a slamdunk for the sound drivers, no recovery short of wiping reformating and reinstalling your op system, and even then, no guarantee you will ever have sound again.

If you are NOT on a dell based machine, then you should be able to get info on your audio devices via the device manager, go to the manufacturer site and get the updated drivers.

Audio cuts in and out - i installed a new real tech audio driver from the gateway support site, and the problem is the same, a cd, or mp3 will play perfectly, then the sound cuts out. when it comes back on...

Check your speakers, try switching them for something else before you do anything, if it still doesn't work then it's either a software or hardware problem. Hardware problem: I bet your audio card is integrated in your Mobo which means you can't just reset it and completely reinstall the firmware. Software: Go in your control panel and into your sound and audio devices then select the material tab. Then select the Realtek High Definition Audio codec and uninstall it before you reinstall the drivers.
If that doesn't work call Realtek customer support and explain your problem, they will probably have some magical arbitrary trick to fix your problem.
Hope this helps, please rate and testify.

No sound after windows XP installation + realtek installation

check the series, is it really require realtek? because the driver doesn't depends on the windows XP, but the type, model and series of motherboard or chipset brand.... anyway, realtek doesnt written on the device manager, check to your control panel - sound and audio device, is all enabled?or does any volume elements are muted..

The sound of my aspire 3610 is not working

The first thing to check is of course that your volume is not all the way down. Check this in the control panel. If this does not work, or if you cannot adjust the volume, your drivers may not be installed. Try to install and see if that works. If neither of those work, you may not have the appropriate codecs installed. Usually this would affect video more than audio, but just to be safe, try installing the Community Combined Codec Pack (CCCP) from and install that.
