SOURCE: 2002 vw jetta radio panel does not turn on nor the radio works.
Fuse number 42 is for the radio reset. Pull it out and put it back in. It's a warranty problem, expired now no doubt.

As with everything else electrical check your fuses first. If you don't have a map of your fuse box just pull them out one at a time and check them.. blown ones will be easy to spot. If all the fuses are good, check the dimmer knob for your interior lights (roll it back and forth a few times) If the lights come on at one certain spot but go out again, it's the dimmer gone bad. If they don't come on at all pull the switch out and check for power with a test light. If power bad dimmer... if still no power bad headlight switch.... Hope this helps...;-)
SOURCE: VW Jetta GL 2000, AC - Heater Fan stopped
is your jetta a 1998 or 2000? the site is showing two different years. here are instructions for a 2000 jetta gl. there is a blower motor resistor in this system. there is also a fuse integral to the resistor. it's all one unit, have to replace the whole thing. here's the step by step:
1.remove the glove box (what you need to get to is behind it)
2.disconnect the electrical connector from the blower resistor
3.disconnect the heater fan electrical connector
4.remove the blower resistor
5.remove the blower motor downward
and to reinstall
1.install the blower motor
2.install the blower resistor
3.connect the electrical connector to the heater fan
4.connect the electrical connector to the blower resistor
5.install the glove box
and of course anytime you work on anything electrical you are supposed to disconnect the battery negative terminal before you start, be warned that you might lose your radio station presets when you disconnect battery
hope that helps
SOURCE: My 97 VW jetta won't turn over. Please help!
it could be the ground wire (black) going to the starter. try putting a jumper cable straight from the black negative side of battery to the exposed metal part on the starter while a friend turns key. if it turns over then its the ground wire. if not its probably the starter solenoid or even the starter motor. solenoid would be cheaper than motor and more likely to be problem.
