Question about Acer CB5 311 T9B0 Chromebook 13 3 inch NVIDIA
My Chromebook was working just fine and still had over a 50% charge, but when I plugged in the charger the screen went black and the laptop powered down and won't power on anymore.

Try this: remove battery, remove power cable, push and hold down the power button for 1 m (over 60s) do not short time. release the button, insert the power cable. wait 10s then push and hold power button till you see any lite flash release and see if you boot.
some time the static is built and that causes failure to start.
above should clean any static and allow reset of power adapter to function. if yes,. then once you shut down . insert the batter and ;et it charge for 3 mins.. then try to start.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Does it appear to be doing anything. Is there a flashing "_" at the top left of your screen. If not try hooking a monitor up externally and turning the laptop on.

SOURCE: Screen went black
Just a thought... There's a "Fn" Key located beside the Start key, when you press this "FN" key + F5, the screen goes black, and if you press again, the screen goes back to normal... Could this be the problem?

try removing the battery from the computer and turning on the computer to see if the power cord works correctly if it does inspect the battery and clean the terminals on the battery and computer and put the battery back in while it is still on now you should see the battery show up on the taskbar if not right click anywhere on the desktop and go to properties and than go to than go to screensaver than look towards the bottom and you will see power click on it and you should see the options for the battery ok sorry this was so long but i needed to explain it in full
please dont forget to rate this
best regards mike

This is a sample of what you can try to do to diagnose a non-starting computer, If these don’t work, realize that most likely a system board (motherboard) has failed or the actual power trim strip above the keyboard has failed.

Try taking out your battery it might be shorting out just run your laptop from the adapter and see how long it lasts before it shuts down
