This is a great video, one I could not find! I thought I found one, but this is way better. Thanks for your input and help! I will start taking mine apart now...I will let you know if I can do so, as the C8180 tends to have a few different components like the lightscribe driver.

This video take down is for a c5180 but from the scanner down the insides should be basically the same.

Hi Derek...I totally cleaned the lines, head and everything right up to the printer pump. The black tubes were very clogged, and now it is all unclogged unless the pump has problems. However, once I got everything together I no longer seem to have any power going to the touch screen and buttons. The touch screen was working fine before I took things apart. All connections also seem fine. Is there any way to trouble shoot that now? I unplugged my C8180, put it into the WALL< as it seemed to not turn on unless it got power from the USB port...why I have no idea. Anyway, I now have power, to only the CD and the power button. Touch screen was working fine until things were restarted. Blank screen. Nothing, no buttons are lit or working. HELP! Any ideas would be nice as I love this silly machine. When working was the best I owned for quality! I updated all drivers for this machine too, so that should not be the problem...I hope!Thanks- Vicki

Printer prints every 2nd or 3rd line of a Word Document in pale gray ghostly way

Ink jets may be clogged, go into your printer software for the canon. At someplace in there there should be an option to run the cleaning program on the printer. This is used to clean out the jets and clean up the printer a little bit. Make sure that you have lots of ink, Cleaning process uses a lot ink

New ink cartridges, but it won't print, clogged inkjets, how do I clean them.

There should be a utility that runs a program that will clean the ink jets. check your manual. there also may be a button on the printer.
check the printer settings in the control panel, there should be a link to the printer software that allows you to run the cleaning utility.

How can you clean the printer but clicking on

Hi
If yourPSC 1210v printer has been left unused for some time? You probably have an ink clog and the standard cleaning is not enough to clear the clogged ink.

Assuming your HP 56 57 still has ink? Empty they are about 30g Each 1g over that is 1ml of unused ink.

Provided it worked OK before a period of non-use? Then you just need to use a PRINT HEAD CLEANING KIT to unclog the tiny jets.
Magic Inkjet Flush usually works a treat on those!

Magic is ideal for unclogging the tiny jets on any Canon,Epson HP and removing those horrible white lines which usually appear in prints when dried ink clogs several jets...

So if yours appears to be a clog? all you should need to do is to use a littleMagic Inkjet Flush to soak the print head and you should be printing again like new.

Prints like it is running out of ink, but it is a new cartridge. Some sentences are printing, others are blank, or partially printing.Followed instructions to align and clean nozzles. Doesn't help.

You can try to use the software the came with your printer on your computer to clean the heads. If that doesn't work then you will need to buy new ink cartridges.

Red and Yellow not Printing at all.

Did you use third party carts?

If yes, buy original brother ink carts and do the cleaning cycle again. If you are lucky the printhead isnt clogged due to the third party ink which has not the additives and glycerin needed for the printhead to run without probs.

In case the head is clogged there is nothing more what you can do. Sorry!  A replacement might costs more than a new mfc 440cn!
