Question about Samsung RF4287HARS French Door Refrigerator

1 Answer

How do I remove the panel to get to the ice dispenser switch and what do I use as a tool to pry panel off to prevent damage to it? I have tried to pry it off but cannot get it to move.

Will dispense water but not ice. Could my problem be something other than the ice switch?

Check the icemaker first. Can you hear the auger motor when paddle is pressed? Is there ice in the bin?

SOURCE: Ice Maker Not Dispensing

I have fought with ice makers before and I find it to be easier when considering the time and trouble dedicated to troubleshooting and frustration of not having ice when you want it, to just replace the unit. You can purchase a replacement Ice maker for your fridge on-line for $85.00 plus shipping and handling. At the most you will have to remove 3 screws and unplug one electrical connection (please remember to unplug your fridge before attempting replacement) and your ice troubles will be over.

SOURCE: Ice cube dispenser not working

I had this problem. The root cause was that mineral deposits had built up in the ice cube tray. The ice would not "dump"... but stayed in the tray after the dump cycle. I did not catch it quickly and eventually the plastic frame broke. That was easily replaced. Inspect the ice tray to see that all cube surfaces are smooth. If there are mineral deposits, they need to be removed. Do NOT scrub with anything abraisive or you will ruin the tray. As you are looking straight on at the Ice maker, with the bin out, depress the small black retangular tab. The tray assembly will come apart to remove the tray. Rinse the tray, then fill with warm vinegar. Let it soak. You may scrub with soft cloth, finger or fingernail to remove deposits. Replace the tray and you should be in business.

SOURCE: Front ice/water dispenser stopped working.

I had the same problem. Turned out to be a microswitch under the lever used to activate it. The microswitch fell from the original position so it wasn't turning on anything. I tried gluing into position but the fumes from the crazy glue messed up the switch and I had to replace the whole rig.
The part is under the control display. You can pry it open from the left side.

My Samsung Model: RF4287HARS refrigerator stopped DISPENSING ice. It makes it, but only water comes out of both push levers now. I get ZERO help from samsung customer service. There is nothing in

The problem is actually in the dispenser lever. The paddle that you press to dispense ice has a plastic lever/arm that extends behind it (you can't see it, it's up high in the assembly.) This plastic lever presses upwards when you push the paddle and presses into a switch. The switch actuates the ice. This little lever is also the ONLY thing that stops the paddle from continuing to press into the water paddle. So when the lever breaks, it creates your two symptoms - no ice and if you press further, you press the water switch and get water.

You need part# DA97-08519A. This is the lever assembly with the switches. You pry the control panel assembly (the whole digital display above the water/ice dispenser) out by inserting a slim pry bar (I used a pocket knife and didn't damage the finish) on one side and working my way around. The assembly is held in place by five plastic tabs (two on each side and one on the top.) When this is removed, the part# above will be obvious.

Water and ice cube dispenser working fine, crushed ice not crushing. 26 cuft side by side model MZD266SHES

You have a solenoid switch which switches the dispenser back and forth from crushed to cube. It could be stuck or not working or the parts connecting it could be disconnected or broken. You will have to observe to see if any parts are moving and if any noise is coming from the solenoid. Crushed ice is the default position and the solenoid is energized to cube ice.
Remove the dispenser cover by gently prying starting at the bottom going round and round a little at a time to prevent from breaking it. When it's off the screws will be exposed to access the other components.

Ice maker dispenser is not functioning (crushed or cubed), Ice maker makes ice but does not dispense, motor seems to be frozen. Kenmore Elite 106.57703701 model refrigerator

Open the door and hold the door switch down and try the ice dispenser. Do you hear any thing. You should hear the ice door open and the augur motor turning to turn the augur which pushes the ice out the door. If the augur doesn't turn Take all the ice out of the bin and try. perhaps the motor is too weak or the augur is locked up. Take the bin out and try to see if the motor will turn with no load. The motor is behind the back cover where the bin sits. See if you get power to it using a voltmeter when you try the dispenser. If you are, probably bad motor. If not ,dispenser switch or solenoid is not working.

There is a solenoid that operates the door that could have stopped working. Can you hear it?
The hinge on the door could be broken or the bracket it goes in could be broken. You'll have to look to see what's wrong.

Ge Profile Stainless Steel 26 ft Refrigerator ice maker dispenser

try pulling out the ice bucket, remove all ice and look for signs of damage on the auger mechanism... most of the time the ice tends to clump up and that prevents the auger from moving freely.

The noise is probably the solenoid which operates the door or the one that switches it from cube to crushed ice.
