A strange problem with a TEAC AG-790A amplituner

I have a strange problem with a TEAC AG-790A amplituner. When I press the power button, the noise inside as would attach a relay, but does not turn the display and no standby button. I packed amplitunerul and I went to a repair shop. I did this 3 times. I left there for days. No errors. All work properly. Start immediately. I stopped a dozen times and left immediately. Starting noise (the relay can) is stronger though. Brought home a chance. I went in 2 different neighborhoods . There started the first time. After I stopped there either never started. Home I have another Sony device that works smoothly. When I go to him for repair, there boy stared at me, makes evidence, works and tells me not what I do. Please help me with some advice. Thank You Andrei atiganila@yahoo.com

When you check the voltage at the plug, make sure you have a 100 watt lamp plugged in and ON. Then measure the voltage. Most of todays meters are so sensitive that unless you have a load present, a loose terminal may not be recognized. If you don't have a meter, another way to check is to plug in many lamps into the same socked by using a power bar. Turn one on, and then another, and then another, etc. If the lamps start to noticibly dim as you turn on another lamp, you definately have a problem with the wiring from the panel to your plug, or possibly from the power distribution network to your panel. Good Luck.

Maybe in your AC outlet is not correct voltage. Measure the voltage, check connection all the wires. I had a similar problem with my TV - there was loose connection (released wire) in the electrical distribution panel.

How can u tell if your internal speakers are blowed?

Hi Patricia,

You may need a professional cleaning of all the switches internally. If you are up to it. Compressed air with an electronic aerosol cleaning solution is the first approach. Over time these parts develop oxidation. The voltage levels are small and the signal cannot be generated. You need to know what too clean, most are visible. You can also look for internal fuse protection. Make sure when the cover is removed to pull the power first. Some higher end Amplifiers provide protection. You will need a digital multi-meter or equivalent to test the fuses.

So before doing all of that. There is a reset switch. It is located between the speaker switches on the face of the receiver. At the top and in the middle left center of the display. Not at the speaker buttons on the left.

That function may be tripped. Reset it twice and try testing with different speakers if it fails again. It may trip instantaneously if there are abnormal voltage levels present in the circuit that arouse protection.

I have located and offer you the Manual PDF. Go here first and try the following. On page 8 in the manual. Titled, " Name of each Control" (D). There is a location diagram for you to observe. Please take some time and look this over.

I have a teac receiver AG-790 and would like to hook an equalizer to it. How do i go about it?

Find the manual at:
http://www.teac.com/consumer_electronics/receivers_&_tuners/ag-790a/

and on page 6 they show how a Tape Deck is attached. Attach the EQ exactly like that and if you have a Tape Deck or two attach IT(them) to the EQ as if IT was the receiver.

To engage the EQ at the receiver choose Tape and everything passing through the receiver wil lbe routed OUT to the EQ and back IN via the PLAY connections.

I have a teac AG D8900 Digital Home Theater. My subwoofer seems to be dead. No lights come on the front of Sub Woofer even though it's plugged in. I tried changing outlets. The wire from speaker to...

I have the same-just talked to TEAC last week, if fuses(two 5 amp glass ones inside housing-just remove screws on back after un-plugging 120v power) on the LSR-1008 subwoofer are blown, it may be failed relays. I replaced my fuses, both blew w/in 5 seconds. Called TEAC today, relays are NOT available alone and are solder connected; however, complete new circuit board is plug in, part #APE000515-0001 at $47.69 plus shipping. Verify #s and price with TEAC, but now I must decide if it's important to keep this sub, or if another at around 60$ on Ebay is a better bet. Good luck!
