You need to go into the bios settings to change how the fans operate.

if they are the only options then that's it. fans on or off, no smart setting.

if these are cabinet fans, then you could possibly get away with turning them off but be aware of heat build up in the cabinet if you start pushing it with games. If it's the cpu fan, then it must be on.

Acer E560 fans run continuously

Take a can of compressed air and blow the dust out of the vents and around the fan. See if it helps.

The fan on my Qusmio runs constantly. Ilueyondert never used to.

Make sure you don't have any bloat/malware hiding in your processes, this can cause the CPU to reach higher usage and the fan to run constantly.

Open Task Manger (Crtl+Alt+Del on most Windows Versions) and go to the processes tab and see what is running. If theres something that is running that you never started (ex toolbars) and 'kill' the process.

Side Note:
internet explorer seems to like to stick around after you close it.

Why does my Cadillac overheat at a stoplight or while idleing? No leaks (except overflow) and I just put in a new radiator (I thought it was the cause).

It may be that the cooling fans are not coming on. If the air conditioner works, turn it on, after about 2to3 minutes the cooling fans should come on. If they don't then start with the fuse's. There is a fuse center under the hood, also check the Max fuses. The locations should be on the underside of the cover for the fuse center. If all fuses check good then try hot wiring the fans and see if they run. Hope this gives you some help. Let me know

Fg2000tc tried a 1000 watt jack hammer but overload alarm came on what to do

Your gen. is a 2000 wt max 1000wt running out put. Means it will start your jackhammer but will not maintain the wattage to run it long. You are using the max it has to put out. So let me try to explain - 2000 watt max output works like this - We will use a fan as an example. A fan sitting still and not turning takes more amperage/watts to start. that is called lock rotor amps. So lets say the fan is a 1000w to run. 2000w start the fan turning then it takes 1000w to keep it turning. Your gen. can start the fan but not keep it running it is using all it has to put out, now if that fan only uses say 750 w running watts you have some head room to keep it running with out things getting hot. Hope this is clear as mud.

Cooling fan runs constantly coming off stand-by

Has it always done this or is this a recent problem?
Try this: right click on your desk top's start screen, select properties, select screen saver, select poweer, select hibernate. Make sure that hibernate is checked and select apply. Now when you hibernate your computer will remember all the info you were working on AND it should make the fan run normally on start up.
Not all computers have the hibernate feature and it cannot be added, so let's hope yours was built with it at the factory. Good luck!

Stand by

Standby does not turn off the computer. It reduces power consumption but does not turn the CPU off or the power supply. Because the cpu is still on the cooling fan stays on to cool it. If you want it to turn the fan off or be silent I suggest using hibernate or shutting it down completely.
