Keeping your password long enough for you to remember with variations of big and small letter, numbers and depending what sites some other stuff like ( - _ = + < !) But if you forget to write down passwords Id advise writing them down in places that you will not forget.

Forgot my password

If you forgot windows password, you could create a windows password reset disk on an available computer which could download from Internet. With the disk you could perform windows password recovery. Only four steps:

Step 1: Download Windows Login Recovery from http://www.windowsloginrecovery.com/ and install it on the available computer
Step 2: Run the software and use it to burn a Windows password recovery disk (you could burn the file into the blank CD/DVD or USB flash drive)
Step 3: Change the BIOS setting of your locked computer to make it boot from the CD-ROM (Start computer and press F2 or Delete to enter BISO setup)
Step 4: Boot your locked computer from the created disk and remove the Windows password

It is easy and safe. Hope to help you.

Create a Password Reset Disk

If you’re running Windows XP Professional as a local user in a workgroup environment, you can create a password reset disk to log onto your computer when you forget your password. To create the disk:
Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click User Accounts.
Click your account name.
Under Related Tasks, click Prevent a forgotten password.

Follow the directions in the Forgotten Password Wizard to create a password reset disk.

Store the disk in a secure location, because anyone using it can access your local user account
