SOURCE: Fixed it until I Broke it I350
Good try.. If the printing, Paper Handling, Head Caps, Suctions and Cleaner were not affected, I mean you still can print correctly then it's fine. But you have to locate and fixed it to their exact position for it may cause hardware mechanism irregularities. Remember the module you have dettached before one and another. Springs usually sets on paper handling, anything that swings back and forth and least to tighthening gaps. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: ANTS NEST IN SCANNER BED
I also have ants in my PIXMA MP760 multifunction unit, I have just pulled it apart and reassembled it after removing several black broken bits relating to the hinges at the back of the scanner lid. The ants have seemed to have left home (wishful) but I would recomend you take to it with a phillips screwdriver, (carefully) or, if you don't want to do the surgery, take it out in to the sunshine and leave it there for about an hour, no longer.
Give it a bump every 10minutes or so, just to give the ants a help along.
If this dosent help, try coaxing them out with some ant food, but be there in person to stop them returning afta, a feed.
Failing this, take it to the repairman.
Do NOT spray bug spray into it, if the ants die in there, they will decompose, in the process it will corrode any fine copper tracks on the PCBs, it will only be fit for the dump then.
BTW, food colouring seems to be a cheeeep excellent ink replacement :)
