Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

A new Roku HD does not find any wireless sites but another Roku in the same place finds all sites. Putting the older Roku in the same place works fine and connects to my wireless network without problems. If I put the new Roku HD in the place where the original (1st) Roku was working, the new Roku HD does not find any wireless networks. Conclusion: The new Roku HD has a defective wireless function. Is there any way to fix this before I have to return the unit (device)? Paul Holliday 150401

No way to fix that sadly, contact Roku and have them replace it for you. If you could fix it, you'd have to open it up which would void most warranties.

How do I correct Ruku loading problems

Hi,

You didn't say exactly what is happening or which Roku model you have, but:

Roku requires registration on their website with a credit card. They will then give you an activation code. This has to done first.

If your Roku can be used with either a wired (Ethernet) cable (Cat 5 / 6) or wireless, you may need to configure your network router to recognize the Roku device. Just a tip - these devices seem to work better with a wired connection rather than wirelessly unless the wireless router is close to the unit. The video can be choppy with wireless units, especially if you have other streaming devices in use.

Note that some of the Roku supported content sites are free but sites like Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon require a paid subscription.

You need to have your own wireless network or if the Roku has an ethernet port, you can connect the Roku via ethernet cable instead and plug it to your router.
