Wow, you just learned the hard way that you're not supposed to take the screw out completely, just loosen it to take the needle out. I have had to replace them and it is a pain. Best way I've found is to hold a small flashlight in your off hand near the bottom of the tube where the needle is inserted (darken the room a bit, it helps), the light from the flash should shine out of the hole where the screw goes and help you guide the screw back into it. If that doesn't work, you may need to take it to a repair shop.

if you take the serger to a sewing machine shop and show them the problem, they can check to see if the needle holder needs to be replaced or just some new screws

Needle clamp tragedu

The needle clamp usually has a screw on the back that is tightened to prevent the needle holder from falling off. The screw on the back should be very loose. Place the holder on the arm (moves when you rotate the wheel by hand) with the screw towards the back and the hand screw on the side. Tighten the screw in the back and it shouldn't come off. Now, place the wire on the side where the hand screw on the inside of the hole along with the arm and place your needle in. Now you can tighten.

The needle holder came off the machine

There should be either a small screw of a thumbscrew to go into the side of the needle holder. It doesn't have to come from a sewing machine shop, any small screw with the SAME SIZE threads will work.

My needle holder will not hold the needle in tightly what could be causing this problem?

The threads of the screw that holds the needle clamp could be stripped or worn.

The needle clamp can be replaced. You can get this from a sewing machine dealer who does the repairs or, order from the Internet.

Stretching a piece of Teflon tape (a plumbing product and not expensive) around the threads of the screw can provide a short-term fix.

How to change the needle holder on Bernina 160

1.) Remove the screw that holds the needle in. Remove needle.

2.) Gentle pry the thread guide clip off of the needle holder. There is a guide and a small flat spring, do not loose those.

3.) Remove the needle height pin. These pins are available in several different sizes and need to be set correctly.

4.) Remove the holder assembly.

5.) Reverse procedure to assemble with the new needle holder.

This really should be done by a Bernina dealer that has the proper parts.

Brother sewing machine model XL-6562.needle holder came off rod.n

The needle holder has a screw right above the screw that holds the needle in place. It really doesn't look like a screw because it does not appear to have a slot for a screwdriver. However, with a small flat head screw driver you can tighten it up. There is also a curverd wire that must be inserted into a slot at the bottom of the holder. The screw tightens against the wire that tightens against the post. (It's a curved wire that curves around the front part).

Needle holder falls off, won't stay on. It's done this before but stopped for a while. I don't even see what holds it on there. I am so irritated with it.

My husband used a 5/64 allen wrench to reattach my needle holder. There is a small black set screw directly above the screw that you tighten to hold the needle in place. I just looks like a small black hole, but there is a screw in there. Use the wrench to tighten it and you should be good to go.

I have a Husqvarna Emma sewing machine. The needle broke and a piece is under the bobbin holder. How can I get under the bobbin holder?

I was able to gain entrance into the area by taking out 1 screw (star head), slightly pulling on the plastic compartment to cause a small opening. I then tilted the machine and the needle fell out. The screw is located on the rear of the sewing machine, right behind the bobbin compartment. A flat head screw is also needed to "Pry" open the plastic.

The needle holder came off the pin that holds the sewing foot in place. It appears a part is broken

Not familiar with the XL-5340 but I have an XL-6562 - mine has done the same thing. There is a small black screw that requires an allen wrench to adjust. It is on the right hand side of the needle holder. Apparently it just works loose over time and with use. My son put the holder back on, adjusted that screw with an allen wrench and it has been fine. Not sure what to tell you though about the missing thread guide. Maybe it will be ok without that - I guess try it and see.
