If the copies come out dark make sure the density settings arent set to the darkest setting possible. Which you can alo use the density setting to make the copies lighter. If the copies still come out too dark then you probably have a gama setting set too high causing the gama reading to be dark. Gama setting can only be changed in service tech rep mode. You can also look in utilities or additional functions for a density control setting. If these dont work contact the nearest copier provider and ask for tech support.
Clean the mirrors ,lens ,optical unit.

this could be down to several thisngs lift the lid on the top and look at the glass area does the underside look clean or dirty? have a look at the scanner area to see if there is dust ont the mirrors you should see this when you do a test copy press the print button and look at the light unit and the mirrors as they move across the glass if you can see dust or dirt on the mirrors they may require cleaning.. if so turn the machine off take out the screws holding the glass in place lift the glass out carefully.. sometimes they stick down if they havent been cleaned lately so pull up.. take a clean dust cloth slide the scanner unit out for access and clean of the mirrors.. p[ut back together and test if no better open the fornt door and look at the units inside to see if you can take them out..give these a check to see if there are marks on the surfaces of the units.. if the copies are dark usually on a old copier its down to the dust..
