Most of the time the problem is bad fuel. Check the date stamped on the bottom of the cell. It doesn't matter if you just bought it, unfortunately many stores don't rotate their stock.
If you have fan & spark then your problem is fuel.

What causes the nail gun not to fire

Your question isn't specific enough. Multiple things need to work together to fire a gas fired nail gun;
First the obvious user faults;
Low battery
Low gas
Nail guide jam

Not so obvious;
Broken/worn return springs (nail guide and firing bolt)
Faulty micro switches
Bent or impacted internal mechanism
Fan fault
Ignition or spark fault
Dirty or damaged ignition chamber (just like a car piston, cylinder and rings)
Faulty micro controller and ignition circuitry

I have a paslode model IM250II 16 ga straight finish nailer that I bought used the gun fan and motor runs whin the trigger is pulled but it does not fire when the tip is pressed no pop no puff nothing I...

Fan running when trigger pressed is normal however to make it fire you need to press on the work probe first and the fan should start running, at this point the gas should be injected and pressing the trigger should create the spark to fire the gun, if all works as above but the gun won't fire check the gas, the metering valve on the can should have a yellow ring and when pressing the can nozzle on a hard surface, gas should be released, if not the can either has (a) insufficient gas, (b) the nozzle is not correctly fitted (c) the metering valve is faulty, if the can emits gas the gun will need to be checked for spark and the seals will need checking

I have 1st fix paslow gun and it won,t fire and green light stay on

A few things you can check for:
-ensure the cap on the fuel cell is fully deressed
-ensure the fuel is not expired

if none of these help, answer these questions:
-without pressing the trigger, depress the safety. does the fan turn on?
-can you hear the spark go off ( small clicking noise)

My paslode keeps flashing green red after it fires once. I have checked the wiring and all seems fine. The trigger and contact switch are both working but when it sparks once it cuts out

is the fan working? if you have the tool partially disassembled and it seems that you know what you are doing you can fire the tool in this position to check for the entire function. When was the last time cleaned? To fire and test motor connect the head assembly back up laying to side so fan can turn freely then push trigger fan should come on and run for a matter of seconds, next depresss the safety switch and then trigger to get gun to fire, look at spark for crisp action, fan should be on and again run for a few. If not then you have a problem with either fan or spark unit. You can go to Paslode.com and type in your model and they have a troubleshooting guide in the manual that might help.

IM250 Paslode straight brad nailer, fan wont shut off

My paselode was doing the same thing, and I followed all of the cleaning instructions, but the problem continued.

If it was left alone for a minute, it would fire again, so I removed the cover over the trigger assy, and checked the spark plug wire connection. The trigger came out, and during reassembly, I noticed that the electrical switch was hanging, and slowly pushing back out.

I cleaned and lightly spray/oiled the switch pin, and voila.........works like a charm.

Pasload cordless finishing gun - still won't fire

barrel and fan cover 'o' rings may be leaking/ need replacing. item no 17 on the parts diagram.

Do you have a spark, you should just be able to hear the spark firing when the gun is applied to the work surface and the trigger pulled, it sounds like a click.if no spark heard it could be the switch on the fan head not working , a bad ignitor , or the spark is not sparking in the correct place, chaffed ignition wires.

is the gas you are using in date, there should be a date stamp on the gas bottle. if its out of date it can give problems.

Paslode 1st fix gun .battery fully charged and placed into gun.the light flashes green and the gun will fire once after which the light flashes red and the gun will not fire.any ideas.i have tryed other...

I would look at the fuel cell on the bottom is a expiration date and they will not fire older fuel. Also do you remove the battery and it does the same thing? When you depress the safety on the work can you hear the fan motor? You say the tool is clean does it have enough lube to move all items freely. Just a couple thoughts, Also look at the spark plug wire for being broke or coming out of the spark unit. Let me know and we will go into this deeper.

Hitachi Framing Gun Not Firing - Bad Battery?

Does the fan run and the light blink ont he nailer? I have one that I just bought. I put in the wrong type of nails and got one stuck. I had to take the front apart to clear it and now the damm thing wont fire. The green light blinks and the gas cartridge is basically full, even the fan does run after I release the push lever, but no fire???

I wonder if yours is the same as mine did fire for a couple nails first just fine then got jammed...

I will try to charge the battery more.... MAybe like yours it needs a strong charge for the spark...
