How to fix a 3.5 lawn mower?

HELLO,
You can fix these yourself, all you have to do is to follow the instructions below,
1 Remove the spark plug lead from the spark plug and move away from cylinder head. Always do this before attempting any repairs to a lawnmower.
2 If your lawnmower is a "four stroke" mower (separate gasoline and oil), tip the mower so that the spark plug is pointing skyward. Never tip it on its side with the spark plug to the ground.
3 If your lawnmower is "2 stroke" (oil and gasoline mixed) turn off fuel tap. You can tip a two stroke mower any way that is suitable to you.
4 To change a blade, or blade disc, it is often easier to remove the spark plug and feed a length of string into the cylinder head to 'lock' the piston while trying to un-do the blade bolt(s).
5 Check the motor's "air filter" while doing this sort of maintenance as a dirty or clogged air filter will affect engine performance and increase fuel consumption of your mower. Symptoms of a clogged air filter include inability to start, starting and quickly stopping after several sputters, or a weak idle. You may also see oily or smoky exhaust.
6 If your mower is a "four stroke" model, change the oil at least once a year. When it is tipped over with the spark plug in the air, is a good time to remove the "oil fill" plug and drain oil into an old ice-cream container for recycling.

I hope this will help to solve the problem.....

Cylinder 1 is misfiring. The plugs and wires have been replaced.

Misfire condition can cause by few items.

1) mis-gap / worn / damaged plug.
One Hyundia and small displacement engine,it can also be loose plug.

2) oil leak / vapor covering the cermaic portion of the plug.

3) clogged air flter. // change interval for small car is 12,000 to 18,000 miles.

4) clogged PCV on // 140,000 or higher mile vehicle

5) worn valve cyclinder // 160,000 miles +

6) worn timing belt with an old water pump //// 140,000 miles+

Please reply with the currrent odomenter reading and recent repair record.

I recently change the blade on my mower and did not drain the oil prior to doing so , oil leaked everywhere now after the clean up and new spark plug and oil my mower wont start, how can i get it to start?

Make sure the air filter is not plugged with oil. Remove the spark plug (gapped 0.020") and check for spark--it should be blue and snappy. Squirt some fuel or starting fluid in the plug hole and try for start. If it pops several times, check the carburetor and fuel supply. There is likely to be considerable smoke when it does start, but that will quit. Hope this helps!

My 1989 jeep sometimes it starts and sometimes it does not

Are the spark plugs and wires original ?
if so replace them, or test spark plugs and wires and clean and set spark plugs.
Try using a fuel cleaner as well .
Check air filter change if dirty.
Changing oil will help as well including a better brand of oil such as Castrol GTX high mileage

I have to prime the toro mower every time I empty the bag to get it to start?

  1. what is the model, manufacturer and year of mower?
  2. has any maintenance been performed on this mower?
  3. if no, try replacing the spark plug and air filter (it's possible the spark plug could be fouled and/or the air filter is clogged) be sure to follow the manufacturers recommendations for oil, gas, filters and plugs.
routine maintenance involves:
  1. sharpen/replace blade
  2. oil change
  3. replace air filter
  4. replace spark plug
  5. new gas
