You would do best by bringing the lens to a camera repair facility for an inspection and repair estimate.

My sigma af 70-300 mm has stopped autofocusing.is there a simple fix or do I need to send it in for repair and about how much will it cost to get it fixed

For you to get this fixed by a lens professional it could cost you anywhere from 60 to 70 dollars but if the auto focus has stopped (and this is not new for these lenses and i have heard stories before) the manufacture will most likely warranty it for no cost to you

When I attach a MC4 conversion lens to my 55-200 dx lens on my Nikon D40x camera body the camera has a hard time focusing and many times will not take the phote.

The camera is spec'd to autofocus with lenses that are f/5.6 and faster. The conversion lens is costing you two stops, so it's a wonder you're getting any autofocusing at all with a lens slower than f/2.8.

Unfortunately, it's tough to try to get around the laws of physics. You're just going to have to focus manually.

The autofocus of my Sigma lens 18-200mm not working

You have just two choices then as it is not a DIY repair:-

1. Live with it until you decide to upgrade to a better lens;

2. Send it to Sigma for repair.

If you choose the second option, then if you're in the UK Sigma have a fixed price servicing menu, your repair would cost £93.99 on tariff no.6. Pretty cheap compared to a new lens, but expensive compared to just turning the focussing ring on an otherwise good lens.

The choice is yours...

I hope that you have found my answer to be of use, if so then please take a moment to rate it.

Nikon 18-55 zoom lens doesn't autofocus

You might like to check if the A/M slider switch on the lens by the Nikon label is set to A.
It sometimes gets moved accidently.
Set to M the lens will not autofocus.

If you don't know how to fix it yourself send it to Sigma UK (01707 329999). They are quite resonable charges for that sort of fault. Their website give a price guide depending on lens and fault. Steve

70-300DL Macro Super autofocus problem

It is likely that the lens will need parts. Sigma is not the best for repair parts. Typically, the small nylon gears that control the AF break. It is still a useful piece in manual focus. Repair costs would likely exceed its value.
