This sounds like something to do with your HDD. I dont know what version you have, so find out where you HDD is then take it out, blow air where the HDD was, then put HDD back in.

SOURCE: PS3 can't detect access point

i have some solutions..
1. if there's lots of walls between the router and your ps3 it may not detect the signal. i had a very weak signal until i moved some stuff around.
2. you can manually type in your wireless name and i think it should at least reconize it, and maybe connect.
3. make sure theres no firewalls or anything to block other connections from entering your signal.
thats all i can say, sorry im not a tech guy-only 17!

SOURCE: trying to update ps3 keep getting error 80710723

Hello woiworrung
This error is a timeout when trying to connect to the network server. This is due to either a slow connection or high traffic from your internet service provider (ISP).
Keep trying and different intervals during the day. If you´re still having problems, contact your ISP and ask them to check your internet speed.
If they report no problems, then it probably has something to do with your own network. I can try to help you further, but I will first need to know what type of connection you are using, e.g. wired/wireless.
Hope this helps. Good luck!

I try to download stuff off the internet but it keeps saying connect storage media at the save destination what does this mean

File formats that the PS3 doesn't recognize as something that it can play can only be saved to a USB storage device, or a memory card. You can't download anything to the PS3 hard drive via the browser that you couldn't copy to it from a USB storage device. That is what the error message means. You have to connect an external storage device, because the PS3 won't store this file format on the internal drive. This protects the integrity of the system. If you connect a USB drive or memory card (you will need a USB adapter for the memory card if you don't have a launch PS3), then you can download anything that you want using the PS3 web browser.

Every time its gets to 62% is says an error with (8002F997) ive tired the method by swiching the media sever to disable but that didnt work. what eles do i do

Error code "8002F997" means your PS3 is having issues updating your system software directly via internet. As a workaround you'll use external storage media, such as a USB thumb drive, to transfer the software to your PS3

1. Requirements

- A USB cable (not necessary if using a USB thumb drive)
- A PC with Internet access
- Storage media or a USB Mass Storage device such as a USB flash drive

2. Downloading and saving the software

- Plug in your USB drive to your computer, and create a folder on the storage media in which to save the update data. Create a folder named "PS3" on the storage media/USB device. Within the PS3 folder, create a folder named "UPDATE".

- Download the update data from

http://dus01.ps3.update.playstation.net/update/ps3/image/us/2011_0310_91ee193a2fa921a6fce780fc40236e3b/PS3UPDAT.PUP

and save it in the "UPDATE" folder.

Note:

Be sure to save the update data as noted below. If the data is not saved in the correct way, the PS3 will not recognize the update data. The folder name must be in all uppercase letters.

-> Location: Save in the "PS3" folder > "UPDATE" folder
-> File name: Save as file name "PS3UPDAT.PUP".

3. Updating the PS3 software

Note:

Do not turn off the PS3, or remove the USB drive, during the software update!

- Insert the USB drive/storage media into the PS3
- On your PS3, from Home Menu (second icon from the left) -> System Update ->Select [Update via Storage Media].

The system automatically searches for and finds the update data saved on the storage media or USB device.

I keep trying to download the required system update, it gets to about 17% and then comes up with the error code 80710723, it says reboot the router and ps3 which doesnt help, or to question Virgin about...

You need to remove the cables of the router but you should know how to plug it again. Try to update again. If this doesn't work, your internet has a problem.

I just got my psp and my ps3 has a psp demo on it but it says to update my psp and i don't know how to do it

On the PSP homescreen go to far left menu the ''settings'' menu and go to the top choice ''system update'' it should say ''Update via Internet'' and ''Update via Storage Media'' you need to choose Update via Internet you need a internet connection obviously,so if you haven't made internet settings for the PSP do it now. When you've done it go back to the part I mentioned above and choose Update via Internet I can't remember exactly what happens from here it's not too hard though just say yes to everything it should download it,once it's finished downloading,go back to system update, but this time choose Update Via Storage Media keep your charger plugged in now it might damage your PSP if it runs down while updating, when it's finished you go to back to the Games tab and select the Memory Stick, not the saved data utility,it should have the update in the folder you can delete this now because it'll just take up space on your memory card,it should be all done now.
good luck

How can i get download for playing ps 2 games to play on my ps3

Keep in mind that the 20, and 40gb are not backwards compatible. There are two ways to do this. The easy way and the hard way.

Easy way: As long as your PS3 is connected to the internet go to PS store search PS2 system data and download.

Hard way: If you do not have a internet connection to your PS3 you will need either a USB flash drive or a memory stick. Plug one or the other into your computer and on that drive create a folder labeled PS3. Open that folder and create another one labeled UPDATE. Then proceed to the PSN site on your computer and search PS2 system data then download to the second file. Now take your card and plug into the PS3. Under settings select system update and then select (Update via storage media).

My PS3 wont even start the latest system update, COD WAW (Error)

First try to update the PlayStation software itself and then update the COD.
Due to specs of PS3 soft none of updates will allow background download. and make sure that your internet connection is uninterrupted, I sugest u to use wired connection rather than wireless, and while update is in progress try to keep all other internet connection requiring equipment offline for smoother process.

Update me about your progress

Good luck

Dns error

For all those people getting error messages when trying to do the internet connection setup....

I had the same problem. I did a ipconfig/all on dos on my computer... found out all the numbers I needed to, and it would say ip address - sucessfull... and internet connection - An error occurred while resolving the name with the server (80710102).

So what I found out was to put in the IP address you find in ipconfig/all but add one to the last octive. Example if yours is 172.16.1.25... then in your ps3 type in 172.16.1.26

Then I was using the primary and secondary DNS numbers that my computer was giving me in ipconfig/all. Do not use those. For your primary DNS number use the number for your default which should be a right below your subnet mask number. For the secondary DNS number just leave it blank. 0.0.0.0

Then you have to upgrade to version 1.50 (which just came out yesterday actually). Get a memory stick with at least 100mb space on it. Make a new folder that is names PS3. Inside that folder make another new one that is called UPDATE. Both must be in capitol letters. Then go to PlayStation.com - PLAYSTATION®3 - Network - updates and click on "download now"... Then click save and save it to your memory stick in the UPDATE file, which should be in your PS3 file.

Then after all is done... plug that into your ps3 in one of the USB ports for the controllers. In the main screen go to SETTINGS and then go to SYSTEM UPDATE. Go to UPDATE VIA STORAGE MEDIA. PS3 will search for your media stick and it should say on the screen The latest update data was found... Version 1.50. Click OK and follow the rest of the instructions. After it is completely done... go back to the internet connection setup and go through all the menus to make sure all your numbers are the same as I stated above. Then at the end run the connection test. It should work!

I took me three hours of messing with mine before I figured it out so I figured I'd pass it along because I was on here forever trying to get it to work. I hope this helps!

Internet Connection

then you have to update the ps3's firmware.
Use a computer and go here and click the bar that says "download now".
when you are done downloading, save the file on a flash drive (also called thumb/USB drive), compact flash, SD card or memory stick. it must be at least have 140MB free space.
On the storage, copy the file you downloaded in the \PS3\Update folder.
Insert the media in the ps3 via usb or card reader.
On the Ps3, under "Settings", go to "System Update".
select "Update via storage media".
click ok to start the upate. Follow the directions.

After its done, now try to change your network settings.

System Update wont work

unplug your internet modem for 15 min, keep the connection to the PS3, of course. do automatic settings, not manual, select easy but DO NOT GO FURTHER until you plug in your internet. Let it cycle, the modem may shut down. if/when it does, turn it on and continue. The PS3 should automatically find everything by itself. Confirm then test the settings. I think that should work.
