Take it to a welding supply that sells them
& explain it to them

I have no idea how anyone could or would do that

You would have to make up an adapter or jumper to
the panel with the 440/480

That person should pay ALL of the repairs, not a friend
I would keep

What should i replace?

I assume you removed the broken wire and reloaded correctly. So if the power is now reduced I believe the power supply is not running on 220v. This can be from one leg of the breaker being tripped. Check your wiring starting at the main panel circuit breaker, then the receptacle, extension cord, welder circuit overload protector (on back of welder), and then inside at the main transformer. See if you see any burnt wires at the transformer or apparent heat damage on the windings.

Wire schematic

If the welder is single phase 110v use a dedicated 20A standard household circuit. If 220v single phase use a 50A RV or weld receptacle connected to a 50A dual breaker with common trip. Make sure the breaker is the same brand as your panel. If the welder is 3-phase connect the wires B-O-Y (Brown Orange Yellow) at the breaker (3 phase 50A) and see if a color code match can be applied at the welder, although the only issue is whether the wire feed will run forward or reversed. If the wire feed is reversed then move any two wires of the B-O-Y set to change the rotation.

Welder when turn on trips the breaker

Would you write back and clarify what steps you have taken to narrow down your search? I'd like to know if the breaker is weak and needs to be replaced. Have you plugged your welder into another receptacle to see if it trips that breaker? I don't think the trigger has to do with this problem. The symptom is that as soon as you turn the welder on, it then trips the breaker. So this tells me that the electrical cord is not shorted. When the breaker trips, is there any delay or is it instant? If there is a delay, does it sound like it does while you are welding? Do you hear that "Transformer, buzzing noise"? The trigger activates the feed motor, that alone isn't enough to trip this breaker. Which make and size welder do you have? I really am dependent on detailed information, you are my eyes and ears. Please write back with any questions or new details and I'll do my best to help, good luck.

Miller gasoline tank leaking from meter

Depending on machine model and sn you need to order the fuel gauge repair kit from a distributor. It will have all of the parts needed and instructions on the removal and installation of the new part. This is a commom problem that we are seeing with the Bobcat and Trailblazers. I can drop ship the part from Miller to you if needed. Feel free to contact me at (803) 609-8518 William Scott.

It MAY have burned a contact in the receptacle it plugs into... check that first. When a plug comes out while under load burning of the contacts is often the result. eplace the receptacle AND the plug on the cord as a first step.

I have a miller thunderbolt 225v AC arc welder

The blank should be the grouDING conductor (green) and they may have a green screw to further indicate it.

Since the welder runs on 220, either of the hot wires can go to either of the other terminals (X or Y).. Those wires might be black, red, blue, brown.

There is a slight chance it would be white even though it is hot on the portable cord because some portable cord is used that way.

VERIFY the receptacle you connect to is wired correctely before connecting your unit to it.

Inspector is correct! In wall or conduit wiring awg will always be greater than "open air" wiring. IE: the size of wire coming from your pole ... it's smaller than from your service riser into your meter. Code allows the cord to heat up... open air will cool it down.
