Question about Fellowes Office Equipment & Supplies
We have a Fellowes 1250 shredder. A small plastic piece has broken off the base unit that prevents the sensor from knowing the drawer is back in place. We are not able to locate a replacement piece and have to keep a little piece of card stock stuck in the hole where there was once a piece of plastic. Should we just recycle the unit and buy a new one or is there a way to 'fix' the shredder?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: Fellowes Shredder keeps running
You should be able to flip up the cd cover and visibly see the sensors in the center of the paper entry(look like little LED lightbulbs) Clean with a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alchohol. This should solve your problem. If it doesn't you probally have a burned out sensor. call 1-800-945-4545 to check with customer service.

If this unit is worth it to you, you can build your own gear.
Here is a link to get plastic repair materials to make plastic parts. This site also will have materials for repairing plastics.
Another possibility is to search Ebay for a unit like yours which has other problems. Never can tell... it may be there.
Make sure you ask for the model of the unit in your search (on the NET as well. The serial in this case is not needed.

i had the same problem on the fellowes fs5m model. i opened up the machine and found that the plastic gear was completely worn on one side.
i just found this website online for spare parts: http://www.wheelermachines.com/fellowes_parts.htm
haven't called them yet. if they don't have it i might try the belzona compound.
