SOURCE: Conversion Tables---- I have an Earthway broadcast

I found drop-rate tables at http://www.vigoro.com/ProductCategories/WeedInsectControl/SummerFertilizer/ProductDetails/Spreader+Settings.htm and http://www.bayeradvanced.com/media/productlabel/502840A_label.pdf. I don't know how accurate they are, but they are consistent with one another so I'm using them :)

How do you check to see if calibration is exact

Usually the cheaper residential grade spreaders are not exact, nor do they need to be. The best way to tell how close it is, is to measure the area to be fertilized length and width. Multiply the two numbers (example: 30' x 40' = 1,200sq ft.) Adjust the spreader according to the reccomendations on the bag, and follow the directions exactly! Walk at a brisk pace around the perimeter once, and then back and forth spaceing your passes about 5' for rotory spreaders. Compare the amount of product you used, to the coverage chart on the bag. In my experience, most all lawn fertilizers are best spread at 50% to 60% open on your spreader setting adjuster. (example: If your spreader has settings of 1-15, I'd go with 8) Always follow the directions on the product container as best you can. Spreading a little too heavy, or a little too light is not going to hurt anything, so there is no reason to be concerned with exact calibration unless you are applying discriminative herbicides... Hope this helps!

The recommended settings for your type of spreader should be listed on the package of the bag of weed and feed you have. There should be a rate chart on the bag. If not, put the setting on your unit on the middle setting, that way, you are not using too little and not using too much.

I need spreader setting to do 2.3 pounds per 1000 sq ft

If the product you are planning on applying has a spreader setting for a Scotts SpeedyGreen, or specifically for the SpeedyGreen 3000; you can that recommendation in your Edgeguard Deluxe Spreader. If they do not have a suggested spreader setting for the SpeedyGreen, or SpeedyGreen 3000 settings then this question would best be answered by calling Scotts directly @ 1-800-543-8873. One of our associates would be happy to assist you further.

We do have a general rule, called the 50 by 20 rule which will allow you to use any product in any spreader, but there is some work that will need to be done.

* Weigh out and Place enough material in the hopper to cover 1,000 sq. ft. (In your case 2.3 pounds)

* Place the spreader setting on a low setting (Usually one-fourth of the spreader setting range or less. In your case i would suggest about 2.75 or 3)

* Spread the material over a 50 x 20 ft. area (This is 1,000 sq. ft.).

* If material is left over, you will need to increase the setting accordingly

* If they you up short, you will need to decrease the setting.

How do I calibrate Scotts Accugreen 2000 for pounds of Fertilizer per Sqft. What do setting equal?

To adjust calibration, do the following:

1) Adjust the micrometer setting to 6.

2) Turn the spreader over.

3) Squeeze the trigger against the handle.

4) The front edge of the shutoff bar should be aligned with the calibration line engraved on the bottom of the hopper.

5) To adjust alignment, use a small wrench to turn the black calibration screw at the lower end of the control wire leading from the micrometer insert.

Note: If the hopper is missing a calibration line - with the setting at 6 they should be able to pass a 9/64" drill bit through the opening just to the right of center. (First opening to the right of the spring.)
