The following problem is not difficult, however, I am having trouble calculating the answer using my HP 12c Platinum. Can you please provide a step by step explantation of how to calculate the answer to...

1. Make sure the HP-12C is in compounding mode. Press STO-EEX repeatedly until a tiny "C" appears in lower right of display.
2. Make sure "BEGIN" is NOT shown in the display. If it is, press g-END.
3. Clear financial registers: f-FIN. (That is really the "f" key then kind of the "Clear FIN" key -- I'm sure you'll see it.)
4. Enter zero as "initial investment". CLx, then g-CF0. (You have to do this because the 12C actually computes the "NPV" as an excess or deficit over the entered "initial investment". By entering zero, you force the calculator to just give you the actual net present value.)
5. Your first cash flow is +2.00. So, enter 2.00, then press g-CFj.
6. Next cash flow: +2.10. Enter 2.1, then press g-CFj.
7. Last cash flow: +22.20 (the final value of the stock plus the last dividend payment). Enter 22.20, then press g-CFj.
8. Enter the 10% interest (a.k.a. discount) rate. Enter 10, then press "i".
9. Compute the NPV. Press g-NPV. The answer is indeed 20.23 (at least to two decimal places).

Oil pressure gauge reads zero all the time.

Replace stock sender with basic mechanical gauge to see what really up, or take wire from stock sender and ground it to see if gauge comes up to top. If so, replace sender. (NOTE: Do not use teflon tape or any sealer on threads of new sender as this is the electrical path for ground.)

Why when I press CE to clear a number is it still saved, how can I truly zero out the numbers?

CE usually stands for clear Entry. It clears what you entered before pressing the = or EXE key.
The only number you can zero out (as you say) is zero itself. The others, you can just erase them. Press the AC (Clear all) or a reset button to clear what is stored in variables.

Make sure your boots are switched off and run the radio off a good car battery before you start looking for problems inside the radio. This problem may clear or change characteristics when the supply is changed.

Engine turns over and all plugs are firing, but the engine will not start. Released the fuel pressure to see if fuel was getting in and there was pressure.

Try flooring the gas pedal when you go to start it (but quickly remove your foot on the pedal when the car starts).

That is just to clear the flooding (it's called clear flood mode when the accelerator is floored before the engine is on).

You need to replace your Engine Coolant Temp sensor. It is dumping too much fuel in your engine and not allowing it to start. The stock one is plastic and cracks. It then sends a signal to the PCM that the engine is -40F (that's negative 40 degrees F as in below zero). The PCM then tries to warm up the car by dumping fuel in it but since it isn't that cold it causes a problem.

Get a new brass one from AutoZone or the like and replace it. It's a 10 minute job and takes a 13MM deep well socket.

I have a Sharp Z 835 copier that shows an H4 error code.

One of 2 solutions either:
  1. Press clear, zero, zero, clear or
  2. Press clear, auto (exposure key), clear, auto
When pressed in a timely manner the display will go blank, then enter 14, then press the start key. If the H4 comes back there is a problem with the heat section, probably a blown heat lamp or corroded terminals.
Good luck

How do I earase the M2 button that is always on my screen?

Clear the display so that zero shows, then press STO M2 to store zero in the M2 registry. Any time there is a non-zero number stored in M1, M2 or M3, you will see those memories in the display to remind you there's something stored. There is no "clear memory" function on the TI-30XA, you have to store zero in the memory to clear M1, M2 or M3 from the display.
