Remove the memory card. Make sure the little notch on the left side is in the up position. If there is no notch, the camera will handle the card as locked. When all cards you put in the camera act the same (locked) perhaps the switch in the camera is defect. Check if the memory card slot is free of any debris. (use a magnifying glass and a strong light.

My Canon camera says
The switch on the card here is in the correct position.

Remove the SD card from the camera. Slide the tiny switch on the side of the card to its other "unlocked" position. Reinsert the card in the camera. But if you've already tried this, see this link for additional things that you can try.

SOURCE: Memory Card Locked.... how do I un-lock it?

Your memory card has a small white "switch" on the side. Move the switch and your card will unlock. It is a saftey so you don't erase anything accidentaly.

SOURCE: no matter what card we

There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". The most common cause is having the tiny slide switch on the side of the card in the wrong position. The second most common is trying to use a 4GB or higher SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. There are also other common causes if the above didn't help, with troubleshooting steps for this problem listed here.

My camera deleted all of my pictures! how do i get them back?

First of all, do not save any new file to camera's memory card.

Take out memory card, and connect it to computer using a card reader. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in Windows Explorer.
Download Asoftech photo recovery software, you can follow this article for detail steps
Install and open the photo recovery software, select the memory card, and click 'Start' button.

How to delete pitcures on a polaeoida530

Read the manual, it is there for a reason.
If you lost it, download an electronic version of it, all major manufacturers let you do that.

Everybody needs to read their manual several times.
Read it once, then take some photos. Read it again, and practice what you learned.
Read it again, you'll understand much more this time, then go experiment.

Also keep this in mind:
Memory cards can and do fail, and sooner or later there is a good chance that will happen to you.

The correct thing to do is this:
After a day's shooting, download your photos to your computer.
Backup your images (e.g. onto a CD/DVD).
Post process, sort, delete, etc, then back up the "good" copies somewhere else.

When you have them safely on your computer, format the card in your camera. That erases the photos, but also erases "housekeeping" stuff and errors. It isn't a guarantee, but formatting improves your chances of trouble free use of your memory card.

There are many mobile options for storing and viewing photos, your camera is a very bad choice for that.

Hope helps.

Lost my canon powershot sx200is manuel; how can I get another copy----how do I delete pictures from camera? my camera is only about 30 days old.

Canon does not have the manual for download. Canon will provide you a new manual for a reasonable price. Go to (or .ca) for ordering info.
Deleting pictures all at once on a memory card camera is called 'Format'. Be aware that format removes even locked (protected) pictures. Be CERTAIN your pictures have all downloaded before you format. Unplug the camera from the computer to 'Format'. The Canon software has a preferences setting for 'Delete pictures from camera', I THINK...

Picture is locked on card

Hi there
Make sure the write protect is off by taking the card out of the camera, face the card towards you, look for a small white tab on the left hand side of the card, to unlock it push the tab down, it will be at the side of the card like this 59a6de4.jpg .

Hope this helps.

Says card is locked but it is not

If there are any pictures on the card, I would back them up onto a PC and then try formatting the card in your camera to see if that helps. You should be able to read off the card even though your camera wonlt write to it.

Locked as in how? Like, it won't let you take pictures? Or...?
If it won't let you take pictures, then take out the memory card and look on its sides. There should be a small tab, near words that say "lock" with an arrow pointing down. Make sure the tab is up (not locked), stick it back in the camera and try again.
Also about the book. There are online instruction manuals all over the internet. Check with Canon's website, or just google search for your camera's name and type followed by the words "online instruction manual". So the search would be this. "Canon Powershot SD110 / IXUS IIs Digital camera online instruction manual."
